This is my first attempt at a trip report. I am not a good writer but will give it my best.

We were so excited to be leaving the Midwest from Chicago before the first big storm hit. We did park and fly and were up early for a 6am flight. Layover in Atlanta and arrived in St Thomas at 2:50. Thanks to Jacki our van driver we caught the 4:00 ferry. The ferry was totally packed for a Thursday. Whats up with that?

We rented a 2 door jeep from Courtesy who met us at dock and we were on our way. Stopped at Dolphin market to get breakfast food. We are cooler people and I bring enough meat and fish to eat a supper in every other day. We use a cooler we found at Sams that folds up and is on rollers. Tech ice and every thing was still frozen solid even with staying the night before in Chicago.

We have always stayed in Coral Bay. We rented from someone I actually met our first visit to st John while we were talking on Maho beach. It is very reasonable and for us the perfect match.

Off for supper at Aqua Bistro. I have been craving the grouper sandwich since last year. I have it with salad and the homemade blue cheese dressing is to die for. Yuummm It did not disappoint.

Day 2 up for sunrise and as we are early risers we would eat breakfast in and usually head out by 8:30 -9:00. Parked outside Caneel on road. Lesson learned we would later park in their lot and have drink at their bar and have our ticket validated for free parking. I think one of the things my DH and I love about St John is the combination of short hikes to beautiful pristine beaches We took the trail from Caneel to Salomon bay. We did the snorkel from Salomon to honeymoon. It was a great first snorkel of the trip. We stopped for a drink at Caneel and the Mango dream was so refreshing it would call me back later in vacation. We spent the afternoon at Maho relaxing and getting in the island spirit. We would have a cocktail and appetizer back at the house and enjoyed a meal of grilled chicken and pasta salad.

Groovy start!
But, did I miss something...? Where did you stay? Are we keeping secrets?

Not trying to keep secrets where we stayed. We stayed at Angels roost in upper Carolina. They only rent the 6 months that they live there. Pretty much they are booked year to year from previous renters.

Thank you for the TR, looking forward to seeing the rest of the days!

BTW, I love that look off the wing as you land at STT. For me after waiting months for the trip, enduring an agonizing last week waiting to leave, and then the long flight - finally looking out the window a the sight of the island is uniquely special.

Nice start. We are wanting to go to Solomon and Honeymoon on our next trip. We are thinking of taking the Lind pointe trail. Did you like the hike from Caneel?

This year we went from Caneel. It is easier and the reward of a drink at the end makes it worth it. The first time we took the Lind point trail. The snorkel is easy and you can go from one beach to the other.
