AA flights have changed

We have never flown with American so I don't know if I should start to panic yet. Purchased tickets Jan 14 thru Travelocity(which we have never used either)for April travel. Just got an email that our return flight is now departing at 905am instead of 335pm. That will really ruin our last day. Plus we now have a 7 1/2 hr lay over. Any words of wisdom out there??

Have you called AA? We always fly AA and have maybe had our times change by 45 min here and there. When I have used other airlines and I have had a big change like that I ask to be moved to a different flight. Usually I look online first and find a flight I would rather be on. If you can't get moved, I would recommend flying out the next day!

I'd start by going onto the AA website, and seeing what the flight options are for your return day. If you see something better than what they've put you on, I'd contact Travelocity and ask them to change you to the better connection.

We always fly American but always book directly with them so I'm not sure what the procedure is with Travelocity but I would get on the phone with American and see what other options you have for our flights. American changes their schedule fairly often but I wouldn't delay contacting them about this change.

Be careful..don't agree to or acknowledge the change. Last year my flight home from Spain was changed. When I called and they told me the new flight time I did not tell them it wasn't convenient. I didn't think fast enough. I did some research and found a better flight...when I called back they said that I had "accepted" the change. This was Orbitz. Between Orbitz and American Airlines, I made several attempts to get the better flight, but didn't get anywhere without a huge fee.
I learned from the experience to get my flights directly with the airline.
Good luck.

Sadams is absolutely correct, you generally get either an email or a prompt on the airline web site asking if you accept the changes....don't accept them, better to call the airline direct and try for a better connection. That's a pretty big change for roughly still high season in mid-April?

Well, I just got off the phone w/Travelocity and they are telling me that there no longer is an afternoon flight. My only choice, according to them is 905am. I can't believe that AA only departs 1 time per day from St Thomas....I did tell them that a 6 1/2 hour change was not acceptable and they said I could have a full refund with no fees. We already paid a hefty price for our tickets and they have gone up. Do you think AA will bring the afternoon departure back? Should I wait it out? I hate being jerked around when we paid over a $1000.

Someone's blowing smoke up.....
AA has a 9:05am to MIA, a 2:55pm to BOS, and a 4:05pm to MIA every day from STT in April.
Book directly with the airlines when possible.

Start pushing Travelocity, something is fishy with their change.

Totally agree with this statement. Yesterday I received an email from AA regarding a schedule change on a May departure from STT to MIA. Our flight was originally scheduled to depart at 3:35 and it is now 4:05. We booked directly through AA. I know that Travelocity does not always offer the full schedule of flights for each airline so that is probably why they are trying to move you to the morning flight.

American has changed their return flight home for us to a morning time in May. It is very frustrating. They gave us the option of a refund for the whole ticket or partial. Only problem is that one of our tickets we used points and I will have to see the policy and I have a feeling we are screwed.

lol

This happened two years ago on American and I vowed not to use them but with airfare prices increasing, American was the cheapest.

Thanks for posting or I wouldn't have noticed the change since I did not receive notice, yet!

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked my flights and American has switched my 9AM departure to a 7:35AM flight. 7:35 is unacceptable. Today's mission is to deal with American's changes.

That is ridiculous...truly. We make plans based on flight times and they come in and just change them without any consideration...they are so dumb, they are really dumb, fo real... :D
