From ST. Thomas to to Anegada.....do you not check into customs? Is there a customs place there? I am thinking no. But...reason I ask is that we really want to bring down our polar bear cooler full of good meats (frozen) and snacks for kids like we did last year in our polar bear cooler. Thinking of trying to do 2 or so days on Anegada and exploring our options. Wondering if we took the flight if it went straight to anegada and no one cares if I brought some food with me!

I can't answer the customs question but will share that when we charted a private plane to go from SJU to VG, the weight restrictions were quite limiting.

We packed in duffles, took the bare minimums, upgraded to a large plane and still were weighing and calculating over and over again to stay under the requirement.

Point being, the cooler might be tough to take along if you run into similar weight limits.

hmmmmm...good point. Trying to see if we should do 2 nights on Anegada at the beginning of our trip or at the end. We tend to "pack light" but that be a whole new meaning of "packing lite" on those planes! LOL

It was a bit crazy considering one of the passengers weighed a whopping 35 pounds and two of the four adults were rather petite. We went so far as to upgrade to a larger plane. (it was a 9 passenger I think)

I don't know how, for example, 4 regular sized guys with scuba, photography or fishing gear could travel that way.

On those small planes they weigh every piece of luggage and depending on the plane, is loaded evenly into compartments in the nose or wings of the plane. Air Sunshine had a weight limit of 30 lbs. for any one piece of luggage.
They also ask what YOU weigh and then tell you where to sit so they can balance it out.

ha ha! I remember that from taking a cape air plane from sju to stt on our first flight down! I was like.."ummmm, this is probably not a good time to lie about my weight!"...LOL

does anyone know if there is a customs agent/booth at anegada? I can't imagine one..but ya never know

hmmmmmmm.....so probably no to a cooler full of frozen meat and kid food for the rest of our trip (that I was hoping to stash in the freezer at the place we stay at in anegada and bring to st. john for the remainder of our stay)....

maybe we should just ferry it at the end of our trip....and that way we will have finished most of the meat/food and bring what we know is OK to take over for the kids??? The ferry rides seem like such a long haul instead of a quick plane ride..even though it is pricey...
