STJ alternative...

I am exploring dare I say - other islands to visit... the following are must haves- or I'm just not interested
1. Good to great snorkeling from beautiful beaches.
2. Mountains & lush foliage (not flat & scrubby like Anguilla, T&C)
3. Relaxed, casual (don't want a fancy-shmancy pretentious feel)
4. Hiking
Yeah, yeah, I know - I've described STJ - but what about:
Grenada? St. Vincent & the Grenadines - Bequia? St. Lucia? Dominica?
Thanks folks!!

Virgin Gorda
I don't know if there are as many hiking trails as STJ but I remember seeing signs for trails around Gorda Peak.

Thanks PA Girl - we've been to VG a couple of times (for the day from STJ) and loved it - for a day... I think it's a bit too arid & scrubby for my liking for a vacation.

I've been doing some research on Bequia...honestly it looks a lot like STJ from the pictures I've seen. It seems like its a pain in the a*s to get there...that would be the only reason I wouldn't check it out...ONE layover and a four hour flight from Charlotte is about as much as I can take...

I with you. There are a few other islands I want to see but I don't want to deal with multiple flights/ferries. I am lazy like that!

We've been to St. Lucia and from what we saw, it doesn't fit your criteria other than being mountainous. Don't know about the other islands.
And, I believe that loria is tongue in cheek on her comment.

And, after just coming home from a 14 day cruise, that hit 9 islands...I can attest to this!!
