Ferry to Jost - Do I have this right?

From what I understand, they only run Fri, Sat, Sun at 8:00 out of Red Hook. Reservations are needed and it's $40.00 round trip. Back from Jost at 2:20.
When we get to Jost, there will be taxi's waiting to take us to Soggy Dollar? Didn't find the price on that.
i read on another thread that you can't take food into the BVI's, but can you take a cooler with beer and water?
Also, need recommendations on where to eat.
If anybody has done this trip, do you think it's worth it?

This trip is worth it.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday - leaves Red Hook at 8:00 and heads to Cruz Bay - leaves Cruz Bay at 8:30. The return ferry from Jost leaves Jost at 3:00 pm.
I have never made a reservation. Maybe in the high season you need one? Ferry has never been full any time I have been on it.
There will be plenty of taxis waiting for you when you get off the ferry at Jost. I think we paid $5 pp to go to White Bay. When you want to head back to the ferry, just ask someone at the Soggy Dollar to call a taxi.
You can take food, just not raw/fresh foods (fresh meats or produce).
Plenty of great places to eat on White Bay: Soggy Dollar, Gertrude's, Jewel's, Seddy's One love. My two favorites are One Love and Soggy Dollar, although I heard someone say that Jewel's burger is awesome the last time I was there.
Do it. You won't regret going.

We love this day. Always taxis at the dock, we freeze big bottles of water and take them with us. We head straight to White Bay/Soggy Dollar. Painkillers in hand with virtually no one on the beach is perfect! We always eat lunch there and switch to buying our beer there later in the day. I highly recommend this day!

Thanks all. I think this would be a great day for our 35th anniversary.
Do I remember somebody saying that one of the places has lobster? I'd love to get that for my husband, he loves it. And, would they have that as a lunch item?

Don't forget to bring an ink pen for the customs form in your beach bag. I think about 8 of us shared a pen that the ferry boat guy had in his pocket when we went.
When you get there and the taxi's are waiting, you can ask the driver to come back to White Bay and get you at the end of the day. He'll know what time he needs to pick you up in order to get back on the ferry. Our driver came and got us a little earlier and then drove us to Foxy's. We had something to eat there, browsed the little stores and walked back to the ferry dock. We stopped at a couple of the little bars along the way to the ferry dock for additional "refreshments".
It was an awesome day. So easy and laid back. Have fun.
