Hello, This is our first trip to St. John and I was wondering if any of the restaurants required long pants to be worn.....Al

Unless you are staying at Caneel and will be dining at Turtle Bay, no long pants.....Thankfully!

Al-
Man, you are going to LOVE it!!!
I usually wear a pair of thin nylon "zip-off" khaki/ cargo type pants on the way down. Get on the plane, and they "zip-off" just below the knee into shorts. They're comfortable and casual, and look nice if we plan to go anywhere nice to eat- just zip the bottoms back on. It's another pair of shorts, otherwise, that I don't need to pack. I wear them on the way home as re-entry to Jersey can be chilly.
Got mine at REI Sports, but I'm sure they're available elsewhere.
Good luck, and have fun. It's freezing up here!
Smiles-
MJ

Al I hope you are prepared for the start of an addiction. St.John is amazing, we got hooked 3 years ago. Though pants are not required I often wear them at night. I get chilled, especially after being in the sun all day. We will be on St.John at the same time, maybe we will see you around.

Hello Joppa, Yes we will be there at the same time and we can use all the tips we can get.
We spent the last four winter vacations in the BVI and loved it there but just wanted a little change. Any questions on the BVI you have, we can offer some help.
We are staying at near Cruz Bay and will be driving a 2 door Jeep from STJ car rentals. I have arthritis in my right knee. If you see us just yell out "Hello Big Al" and you get a free drink....Al

Al I will probably get myself in trouble with someones wife now, because I will be going around saying Hi big Al to random men. HeeHee!!! We will be staying in Coral Bay. You really have to make a trip out there, it is very different from Cruz Bay. There are a lot of good beaches there too. This Forum is a great source of information so go ahead and ask away.

Hello Joppa,Coral Bay will be one of the areas we plan to visit. We want to see Vies Beach for sure and then maybe Hansen Beach, Haulover Bay and Drunk Bay. We'll be easy to spot. I'll be the big guy walking with a limp and never out of sight of his wife. She keeps me on a short chain for good reason. :D
Hey we'll even throw in lunch too....Al

The short answer is no. Like Maho Jim, I wear zip-off leg pants on the way down as one of my two pairs of shorts. The legs get zipped back on the plane ride home, maybe.

Cheers, RickG

Hello, I appreciate all the comebacks.
I won't be going to any fancy restaurants that require long pants. I just don't know if the zip-off pants are warm enough when leaving from EWR....Al

They work for me when leaving VT in the winter.
