A question for those of you who have flown recently. I know you have to have any liquids in 3 oz. containers in a plastic ziplock bag if you want to take them on the plane with you in your carry-on, but what about food. Can you take stuff like sandwiches and cookies (from home, not bought in the terminal) on board the plane these days?

Absolutely no problem in bringing on food of any kind. Just put it through the xray. They have also lightened up on the water/soft drinks too. You can purchase once you're through security and take it onboard.

I took a small cooler full of meals and snacks in Feb/Mar with no problem.

Just came back from denver make sure you bring something to eat. We sat at the gate for 2 hours then took off and they didn't give you anything not even a bag of pretzels. I was in the first row behind first class and they didn't have change for a 20 for their snack box said they would come back never did.

My sister in law had packed a lunch from home that included sandwich, chips and yogurt. Security at Logan/Boston airport found the yogurt and confiscated it.

Bring on all the solid foods you care to carry. My last 4 hr flight from Philadelphia was marked with a "lunch" when I purchased the tix last year. "Lunch" turned out to be a chicken sandwich in a box, a fruit tray (also in a box) or a snack box any of which could be yours if you cared to fork over 5 bucks...

By the way I always buy at least one bottle of water after the TSA check so I can carry it on.

Thanks you guys! I knew I could depend on you for an answer! I'm also glad to hear that about the water, since I'm a big water-drinker. In the past, before all this new security stuff, I've always taken a bottle of water on the plane with me and I don't think I'd last until the flight attendants get around to serving some! Oh boy, peanut butter sandwiches and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for our own in-flight meal! Yay!
