Blue Papaya Trip Report Part 6

Part 6 - Sun. Nov. 14th - I felt a little better the next morning and was able to throw together a coffee cake mix before breakfast. I had Francis Bay on my list of new beaches to try so we packed sandwiches made with the leftover beef tenderloin and threw plenty of other goodies into our bags. The beach was great and I snorkeled off to the right side, but visability was still very poor. I did manage to find a conch shell for Lori's grandson that wasn't occupied by a hermit crab but that was about all I was able to see to I gave up on the snorkeling.
I played in the water and did some people watching. There were two young girls who had obviously never snorkeled before and I had some giggles watching them put on their flippers at one of the picnic tables and then trying to walk backwards to get to the water. I always find that entertaining for some reason. They snorkeled around the sandy areas for a while and eventually gave up. I would have told them to look along the rocky areas but didn't bother because they wouldn't have been able to see anything anyway.
Without snorkeling some of us got bored and decided to take a drive to Sloop Jones since we'd never been all the way to the East end before. The rest of the group wanted to stay at the beach longer so we split up. We made the driven all the way to the East end only to discover that Sloop Jones is closed on Sundays, but at least now I could say I'd been there. We also pass Vie's Snack Shack which also remains on my To Do list since she was also closed on Sundays. That'll teach me not to go anywhere without my trusty books about St. John!! I found out where Haulover was and made a mental note to snorkel there next trip since the water look pretty rough.
On the way back we decided to make a stop at Skinny Legs and stopped to take some pictures of an unsual hitchhiker. The Coconut Swizzle felt good on my throat since I had now developed full-blown laryngitis. We checked out the T-shirts in the shops and Hubby fell in love with one that had the Miller Hi-Life logo that said Coral Bay Lo-Life instead. He did buy it, as usual, and is still kicking himself in the fanny for not picking one up. That seems to be a vacation ritual for him.
We passed on additional drinks given the the long drive back to the villa. I was kicking MYSELF for that stupid decision.....I wasn't driving....what the heck was WRONG with me??! I guess I was just delirious from being sick. After we got cleaned up we grilled our turkey breasts and made rice pilaf and peas with onions for dinner. Someone had picked up ice cream for dessert because we'd found a jar of caramel topping left by previous renters. Mr. Bill and I had some more rum instead to fight off the germs. He got a little wild and crazy around the villa that night. That Mr. Bill is such a BAD influence! We drank enough rum so that I didn't even THINK about the wild-haired coughing man that night. In fact, I don't think I was able to think of much before I fell fast asleep.
