Jost/BVI/PR 2 day trip extension...?

Thinking about extending the trip this Spring with a day or two on Jost. Might just be more economically feasible than a daysail...?
Any ideas/help/recommendations would be wonderful.
Other close destinations are not out of the question, either.
Thanks and always

We want to add 2 days for Jost on our next trip but...I want to stay on White Bay and that limits our options. I love Ivan and I love his bar, but I will not stay there. Too rustic for me on vacation.
I would love to stay at Sandcastle but they have a 3 night minimum.
We may suck it up and stay at Sandcastle, that would really be the ultimate in relazation for us.

HMMMM--not sure what you are looking for--more chill on the beach or a different scene--the BVI's get difficult in terms of getting back to STT to catch your flight home (so for two days--maybe not so great?)--maybe Jost.. or tortolla would be ok...
however, if you wanted to have a bitmore of an urban stop--San Juan might be a good option--you could stay in one of the nice smaller hotels in old san juan or in one of the resorts--if that is more your style--and it's easy in and out in terms of travel--

We really enjoy old San Juan, its very interesting, good restaurants, fun things to see. but if we ever extend a trip we like to do it on the front end rather than the back, only because we start getting the itch to go home and the extra time involved becomes more of a pain than a pleasure. But that's just us. Have fun!

We stayed at Sandcastle last May for a couple of days before we headed over to St. John and had a blast. There was never a mention of a minimum stay, but that most likely was due to us traveling during low season. We also met a great couple that was staying at a neighboring cottage. We hit it off and we're now all booked to share a villa on St. John in May '11!
In any event, I couldn't recommend enough. We had such a great time that we could definitely see ourselves doing a week on JVD at some point.

Thanks, all!
I was thinking about staying at Sandcastle for a day or two before our final destination, STJ, for 10 days. Gotta' try to feel this out...
jb4stern- when & where are you staying on STJ?
We're there from Cinco de Mayo thru the 14th in a new Coral bay 2 bedroom villa;- can't wait!!!
Love to meet up for a drink,- diggin' your relaxed and adventurous attitude.
Thanks again for the help, and always

We stopped over for a couple nights in Old San Juan this year. We wanted something a little different. We stayed at the El Convento hotel and enjoyed exploring the old city for a couple days and going to the casinos and clubs. It also made the trip home shorter.

Thinking about Tortola for a day or two.
Easier with the ferry...?
Thanks for putting up with my ramblings...

What about Ivan's Guest House on Jost?

Looks like you can rent the lower studio. Jay and Deb stayed there. Maybe one of them will give some details.

Why not pamper yourself with a couple of days at Caneel. You get to enjoy their wonderful private beaches and enjoy their grounds. It's the perfect way to end your stay on STJ. Then take their private ferry and taxi to the airport on your departure day (also a splurge but oh, so nice). I'd take that a hundred times over Jost or Tortola any day of the week.

I was just about to post a similar question. We extended our week by three days and I'm looking for a good way to mix it up. Talked to Sandcastle and they have a 3-night minimum during the high season which ends May 1st. Since we'd be there April 27-30, the price is a little more than I wanted to spend so I'm looking for something cheaper. I know there are a few affordable places on STJ, but like you, I think we might want to try another island for a few days. Looked at Jost, Tortola, Virgin Gorda and can't find what were looking for. Thought about doing a cruise but not having any luck finding a 3-day. Even considered hopping on one of the mega-sized cruise ships out of St Thomas just because it seems like it would be cheap, but can't find where you can start your cruise there. They all seem to start in Miami area.
BTW - we'll be at the end of our trip as you guys are getting started - we head out on May 7th. We'd love to help you get your vacation started with a ice cold one if you guys are up for it. Let me know.
Anyway - I'll keep my eye on this thread to see if I can get any ideas!

Thanks again for the help, you groovin' STJ lovers!
We gotta' work this out.
Feel free to PM me, I'd prefer it.
The bottom line to me is to secure a day charter to another island, rent a dinghy for a day, or the trip to another island for an added bonus day or two...
The realistic options are either a shared daysail or a dinghy rental.
I just want to surprise My Sweet Amy with a new adventure and new friends to share it with, ya' know?
Keep it in mind,-the trip seems so far away, but will be here before we know it!
Thanks, and always

Hi Jim!
We stayed on Jost for 1 night at Halloween. We stayed on White Bay at the Perfect Pineapple. It's behind the Sandcastle on the hill. There are several cottages to pick from. They have no minimum stay. If you would like some more info just give me a PM
XOXO
