No plans Trip Report Day 1
Posted: Sat Dec 11, 2010 8:21 pm
I will start this report saying I have no idea how much I will remember. Yes, there was some rum, but there was also no set agenda and no need for plans so we just went with it.
The report will also be missing a lot of photos. I just didn't take a lot. We focused on enjoying our time together, and the camera made it out of my bag very rarely.
We left the house at 4:15am to make our 6:05 flight. We are fortunate to be about 10 minutes from the airport. We flew Delta through Atlanta with no issues and free inflight wifi.
We recently purchased LL Bean Travel backpacks so we did carry on only so once off the plane we walked right out to see Rachel's smiling face. I know you all know this, but I just love her. She is such a wonderful human being and if you know her, you are certainly better because of it.
We made the 4pm boat with no issues and sat up front. It was cold
I had to wear my sweatshirt!
I grabbed my boxes and a wonderful gift from an on island friend (more on that in day 5), walked up to STJ Car Rental and heading to our little home for the next few days.
We stayed at Harborview that is managed by STJ Properties. It is a 1 bedroom apt just behind the Islandia building and Dolphin Market.
I used to work for STJ Properties, so my review may be slightly biased but...
The apt is close to town and you will hear noise, so if you want supreme quiet, this is not the place for you.
It is also a multi unit building. Upstairs is a 2 bedroom vacation rental and below is a long term tenant, so if complete privacy is your need, then look elsewhere.
If you want a rental that provides you with a comfortable bedroom with AC, a full kitchen, and this view at an affordable price, then book it now!

We dropped our stuff and headed into town and landed at the Beach Bar

After several text messages and Facebook messages, Capt Jay and Deb and Brenda and Gary, met us for a drink or two and they were wonderful to invite us to join them for dinner.
We had a great dinner at La Plancha. It involved lots of food, lots of rum, lots of laughs, and an awesome chocolate waffle dessert thing.
I love spending time with forumites and it was great to meet Brenda and Gary and as always, great to see Jay and Deb!
We walked Jay and Deb back to the dock, stopped at Dolphin to get some coffee and basic supplies and headed back to Harborview for the night.
It was cooler so we decided that windows open was the way to sleep. Town was a little loau and we really should have closed the windows and turned on the AC to sleep but we didn't...lesson learned...or not!
