Can someone talk me down from this weather report? :/

I know that the standard answer is "oh, the forecast almost always has some rain in it," but that 12th-17th stretch looks an awful lot like 6 straight days of rain.
And yes, "a rainy day on STJ is better than a sunny day almost anywhere else", but I can't help but feel a little bit sad about 6 rainy days..
Boo.
(edited: the report has changed a bit for the better since I first posted the link)

I wouldn't put too much faith in that forecast anyways. For fun I clicked on January for the forecast, and this came up for STJ:
Actual Temp
67° Lo 47°
Hist. Avg
77° Lo 57°
I would think that 47 would be a major, major, major deal - perhaps "Day after tomorrow" kinda stuff.

Thanks for making me feel a bit better, guys! I know that I'm very lucky to be going to one of my favorite places on earth, so I'm trying hard to keep things in perspective.

Omar. Monsoon.
You are not on island when we are. You will have spectacular weather.

I usually go to several weather sites and pick the one that is most favorable to follow. You just need to find a different weather forecast.

I love you guys.
Thanks for talking some sense into me! The forecast has already changed a little bit -- I tend to overreact a bit in the days leading up to a trip.

That Accuweather forecast is totally bizarre---they are saying the low temp was 51F on Friday? That the average low is 58 in mid-month? WHA? The all-time record low for the VI is 61F. Average December lows would be 69- 70. WE are all talking about how cold it is this week; it might have gone down to 65 on top of Bordeaux.

I'll bet it was cool higher up. I think the weather Gods have given STJ her fair share of rain. Our weather was perfect, just cooler than usual and not humid.

If it makes you feel any better, that same time frame in Boston is predicted to be a major rain/snow event. At least you won't be here for that.

Caribbean weather can't be predicted with much accuracy more than a few days in advance and even then it's always changing. You may some showers, but I bet for the most part you will see sun and scattered clouds!
And I am not one of those people who thinks a rainy day in St. John is better than a day at home. Rain dampens my spirits on vacation! If the weather is going to be crap, I'd rather not be paying for it and wasting time off!

But we can't control it!

We're going to be down the 10-17 --- same time. I've been down the same two weeks in December for the past four years, bring a sweatshirt casue it can get "cooler" at night but otherwise you should be JUST FINE.
If not, come up to Sailview and party with Lovermont and our hubbies.
Unless I see the words "Tropical Wave" "Hurricane" or "Tropical Storm" I do not stress.
See you on the rock! I'll be the UNintoxicated, 5'10", pregnant, blond chick in braids wearing a tie dye and Keens.
Peace!

I know how you feel to see rain every day - but keep in mind, that rain may only last 5 min. and it may hit at 6 am. We've always gone in early November (still hurricane season), and we've only had one wash-out day in 5 years of St. John vacations, in spite of seeing rain in the forecast every day. You'll be fine. And I'm jealous of your "rainy" St. John forecast.

Arrived today to gray skies but no rain. Although it did look like some of the island may have had a bit of precipitation. If the gray skies continue, we'll take the opportunity to get some long hikes done. If the sun does come out, we'll spend some time at the beach. It's all good!
