Closing in on a brief (5 days total) drop onto the Rock for my SiL's wedding. Wondering how the skeeter situation is? She's getting married on Cinnamon on Saturday the 11th late day - I'm hoping NOT to be swatting the needle-nosed b@$tards or be covered in DEET!

The best way to get an idea as to how bad the skeeters will be (I think) is to see what the weather is about 5-7 days before. If it's rainy and wet, there's a good chance the skeeters will be bad. They tend to show up in numbers about a week after a good soaking. We ran into this on our last trip. The weather was very rainy just before we got on island and the mosquitoes showed up big time on our last 2 days. In between that, though, no problem at all.

We were just there and I was shocked that the skeeters weren't bad after all the rain. I would say they were less of a problem than usual. Maybe they got washed away!
That said, I saw a lot of standing water at Cinnamon, which doesn't bode well for the next round.

If she's getting married in late afternoon that's prime time for noseeums and the skeeters will be the least of your worries.
My advice is to encourage everyone at the event to wear good bug spray (and NO skinsosoft it's not strong enough).
The previous advice on how to time skeeter blooms is also very accurate.
