My family has vacationed at Spellbound a couple of times. It is a beautiful villa with plenty of space. The views are amazing. We had a few issues with the building, but Catered To was quick to have anything resolved.

Maryann:
Spellbound is probably the nicest villa we've stayed at. Breathtaking views. Big pool. Very quiet area; only one neighbor.
Accomodations only for 6 people (3 bdrms), and one bedroom doesn't have A/C (unless that's been upgraded since we were there.)
PM me your email & I'll send you some pics.

I've stayed at Mango Bay and although I haven't stayed at Spellbound I have been through it. Amazing vistas from both villas. I recommend Mango Bay especially for a larger group. Spellbound is on my short list for just DH and myself.

Have stayed at Spellbound and have toured Mango Bay and it's a tough call. We do love Catherineberg and have stayed in many of the villas there. The view from MangoBay is not as nice as from some of the other villas up there, and the house, to me, particularly in the bedrooms, seemed cramped. That said, the furnishings are more upscale but the outdoor areas are not as spacious as Spellbound.
Spellbound is in a drop dead gorgeous spot, with dynamic views from Tortola and Jost from one end of the outdoor gallery to the Caneel property, over St Thomas over to the south shore from another part ofthe property. The outdoor spaces and areas are huge as compared to Mango, and IMHO the indoor space on the main floor are just as large. There is a brand new kitchen at Spellbound, which was the weakest part of the house when we were there in 2008. The master BR has been completely redone, the two lower bedrooms--not so much..but they each afford plenty of privacy.
The pool is huge as is the pool deck, but it is not as visually appealing as the pool patio at Mango. The views from the deck are to die for though.
I love Catherineberg but would choose Spellbound over most of the houses except Cinnamon Stones and Island Sun.

According to Catered To's info. Spellbound does not have AC and that would be a deal breaker for us, especially in the bedrooms.

There is A/C in the king bedroom downstairs. Dont know about the other downstairs B/R. There is no A/C in the master but we did not need it. The villa is about 800' up the mountain--pretty much the same as those in Catherineberg.

Another vote for Spellbound.
Amazing views, best I've had at a villa.

Thanks, all, so much for this very useful info. My favorite houses have been Le Chateau and Cinnamon Stones, in Catherineberg... I do love a good view more than anything, and Spellbound seems perfect for that.
My only worry about Spellbound is that the two non-master bedrooms don't seem so great, and we've invited some guests, but they're fine, right?

They are not equal to the master but they were acceptable to our adult children, who are pretty picky. I was only downstairs once at it was my first trip back to a villa after my accident and I was still using a walker. The Master bedroom on the main level has a raised 4 poster king sized bed that requires the use of a small stool to get up into. Of course I was unable to do that so I had to fill several soft side suitcases with books and stack them at the side of the bed to climb on. To get myself out and down from the bed, I had to scoot to the bottom, hand on to the bedpost and lower myself until my feet were on the ground. It was not exactly a pretty picture but I was only a small sacrifice for the trip to paradise. I cant wait to get back there in the future to enjoy that bedroom.
I believe the bedroom on the first lower level has twin beds so if you have two couples you should check with Catered To about whether they can be put together.
I would go back in a heartbeat.
We really loved the house, though, and the owners are upgrading little by little. I thought that, other than the kitchen, which has since been totally and beautifuuly remodeled, the house was very very nice as is. It is not furnished as eclectically as Le Chateau or as upscale as Mango Bay or Cinnamon Stones but you are not paying that price either,( when last I checked) Again, the view is to die for, and with sunsets too! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Please feel free to PM me for any more specific info you might want.

Hello.
The only time I stayed at Spellbound Villa- Back then it was named "Lyon's Pride", -it was a magnificent home.
You walk into the front door, through the kitchen, and see the views.
They are astounding.
Great place to cook, and relax in the Great Room.
There's a bedroom on the same level as the pool, bbq grill & "main structure", with an unbelievable panoramic view.
The other 2 bedrooms are pretty much private, and the one on the "mid-floor" has an outdoor shower.(SWANKY!!!)
I slept in the bottom floor room and it had one of those plug-in a/c type fans, and a shower that was plenty comfortable...
I'd stay there again.
I can only imagine the renovations are even more delicious.
Great location, quiet, safe, & breath-taking.
