Palm Hats

Well Anthony requested new topics, so here goes...
I've been there a time or two, and have watched local folks weave hats from the indigenous trees' leaves, and /or fronds.
So,-
Are they tacky? Do they rot after a while? Bring back bugs?
Just curious.

I've seen customs agents in STT take them away. I think they're classified as plants or agriculture.

Yes they are not allowed past STT airport Customs and Immigration - but fun to wear while on island

You can't take them home, but you can have fun with them while on island. The kids can use the bowls as boats, and you can fly the birds from your villa's railings, and the hats are just plain fun! I get them from the man at the ferry dock beach.

It's along the same lines of hoping the next person that rents whichever villa you rent gets your leftovers upon their arrival.
