Are there any places in Cruz Bay (or in that area) that make fresh bread/baguette/bagels? If there are multiple do you have a favorite?

We went to a place in the Lumberyard in July to get fresh rolls. I can't remember the name, but the rolls were good enough. the island was out of hot dog buns, so we went there in a pinch to get anything bread-like.

We arrived at probably 11:30 or so and they were out of a lot of stuff by then. I can't remember the name though

Starfish has fresh breads muffins and bagels. I would think baked in the sun would too. Is that still open?

is it deli grotto that sells that terrific whole grain bread?

I believe that the place that Pip is describing is Baked in the Sun. Small place, easy to miss. They do run out of some products early and prices are not a bargain. Starfish does have a decent bakery goods department. It sells out early too.

Thanks for knowing what I was babbling about, darling. The rolls were good, pricey at $1 each, but we had few options at that point and really didn't care either.

I also forgot about the Deli Grotto. It's on our list for next time to stop in to buy bread.

We quiet often stop at C & D Bakery in the Lumberyard for their lobster rolls which are the perfect size for beach sandwiches. They are called lobster rolls because they are shaped like lobster claws and not because the contain lobster meat. Anyway they are larger than a hot dog bun but not a large as a small bagette roll.

Starfish also has good bakery products of all kinds and of course Baked in the Sun (new location by the Tamarind Inn) and the Deli Grotto.

Mmmmm... Deli Grato... It has been too long!
