Hi everyone - I am so close to making a reservation after more then a year of researching. Our plan was to go last summer but things did not work out. We are a family of four with son (13) and daughter (8). Right now I am trying to figure out our son's baseball schedule in summer around our vacation. He would be an unhappy camper if he missed playoffs. My original plan was to go in the beginning of July (but not over the 4th). Does the weather get any hotter at the end or is it basically the same. I am trying to get everything sorted out by the end of the week so I can just schedule and then we can start the planning. I also want to get the villa booked before our dates our taken. Thanks for the help.

I doubt you’ll see any noticeable changes during July’s temperatures. Expect it to be hot, humid, and maybe hazy, if like last year, the south-east winds bring with them record high temps and haze, also known as Sahara Dust or African dust, or the SAL (Saharan Air Layer). But, it makes for beautiful sunsets!

The chances of tropical storms go up as you move thru July and closer to August. That is one thing to consider.

We went this past July and, maybe we just got lucky, but the weather seemed a little nice than the 2 August trips. Still hot as all getout, but maybe a little less evil.
We happened to miss some major storms, so I can't comment much on the weather. For us, it was great. For those right before us? Not so much.
There is some tropical storm danger, but July tends to be less active than August into September.
It was a good time to go. We had our best trip yet

We did two July trips in different years, both during the first week of July. Weather during trip #1 was fantastic - hot, dry and really breezy. Trip #2 was insanely hot and humid, like soaked through with sweat 10 minutes after leaving the room hot and humid.
I would go early rather than later in the month due to the increased risk of storms.

We were some of the "not so much" crowd of which pipanale speaks. But we made the best of it. Weather is always going to be hit or miss, even when you're playing the odds. We hope to go back again in July...

Thanks everyone - I think we are leaning toward the beginning of July. With the kids schedule it is so hard but I have decided that we really need a vacation so am going to book. I am sure they will miss some of their activities (sports, etc)but going to St.John for the first time will be very exciting. My son will probably be turning 14 on Island so will have to find somewhere to celebrate or maybe a boat trip with Palm tree charters - have to wait and see. Thanks again for all your input and help.
