Good Golly it is a beautiful day!

I developed a theory today.

Mind you, when I developed it, I was at the gym and 2 men were on ellipticals behind me and were fiercely debating how they would respond were they to be attacked by a bear. (If you want to know what several of us have figured out, it involves me peeing on a rock). I may not have been of sound mind at the time...less sound than usual.

Did last night's election results guarantee that the president will be re-elected in 2012?

Hear me out...I may not be insane after all.

Should the economy turn around (and as James Carville said "It's the economy, stupid") they can say "See...we fixed it despite not having both houses on our side" and ride that to re-election.

Should things not improve, can't they say "See...you elected a bunch of people who did nothing." and ride that to re-election?

I'm not saying I agree with either of those statements, but I'm also not a political strategist.

I won't tell you how I voted or how I feel about what took place last night. That's not my point. I'm curious to see how last night impacts us in 1 year and roughly 364 days or so. That's my point.[/i]

Lousy day here in the Triangle...cloudy, cool...bone-deep kind of tired.

well both clinton and regan were reelected after stunning midterm losses in their 2nd year.

Perhaps I should have explained my glee better. It is close to 70F today, the sun is shining gloriously, not a cloud in the cobalt blue sky. The trees are losing their colorful coats and I heard from my daughter who has been out of communication for a few days while traveling somewhere between Spain and Lake Como, she is having the time of her life burning through my wallet . Things are falling together for us to meet up with her sometime soon and bring her home. Along with a number of other things that are falling together like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle to make my life good. I hope that everyone is enjoying their day today. My joy is far from politcally motivated except for the fact that the mudslinging and childish behavior is over (for now). Well perhaps that optimistic outlook is a bit far reaching. Oh well I still feel great today!

Are you in St. Louis or outlying? I went undergrad and law to Wash. Univ. I really like St. Louis.

Hearing about the negative advertising in the American election campaign, I wonder, if it isn’t annoying for some Americans to think of, what better purposes the big amount of money, which has been spent, could have been used for. Unfortunately the Danish politicians are beginning to imitate USA concerning politic. A lot of mudslinging! I'm so tired of it.


Glad that your daughter enjoys travelling in Europe. Spain and Italy are fantastic. Coming to Denmark after that perhaps will be disappointing, although my country also has some charm.

Quite the contrary Linne. She loves it in Denmark. Although she is enjoying the Mediteranian weather.

I’m glad to hear that. I of course wish that Denmark gives foreigners a good impression, because I myself like my country (and not only because it’s easier for me to understand and write the Danish language .)

I really hope that you will enjoy your visit here. And perhaps write the first TR from Denmark on VIOL?

Linne, I promise to post a report and photos from our travels after we return. As far as the Danish language, my daughter explained that the Danes are remarkably multi-lingual and has yet to hear much of the Danish language at all in her 3 months there. She is beginning to understand Danish humor as well . Her first choice for travel during this school break was to see more of Scandinavia but her travelmates out-voted her in favor of a warmer climate. I think she is enjoying that decision right now. She says that the temperatures are not so bad if not for the wind and rain/sleet/mist.

Sometimes I'm so tired of the weather here, and wish I could always have sunshine. But on the other hand I also enjoy the 4 seasons and wouldn't be without them.
If it's rain and storm outside, and you are sitting inside with fire in the woodburner and in the candleligths - perhaps enjoying a good meal or/and having a drink, it can be so "hyggeligt", as we say in Danish.
