I look at the real estate listings from time to time... dreaming and whatnot. However, when I clicked on this one, I laughed out loud. I would say "it's the view" but there is no ocean view...

Really? $315,000 for three freight cars and a cistern?

Oh, I'm sorry... there's a parking pad too. And TWO cisterns, not one.
Silly me.

I think one of the cisterns is listed as a swimming pool.

For truth in advertising, you gotta love their statement "one of kind property"!

True. It is one of a kind. I hope.
I especially love the plywood front porch on one of the units. I would think for $315K they could have finished out the decks.

Are those converted shipping containers?

Wow. It says hurricane proof, and I'm no expert, but the way those things are stacked it looks like they could tumble easily. And they look like shipping containers to me! Slightly claustrophobic.....

"Includes two virtually hurricane proof solid steel finshed studios with double French doors, 9' ceilings and curved glass showers and one large one-bedroom / one bath unit which is also fully finished.
Double French doors and curved glass showers are what clinch it for me. Oh, the second cistern must be the spa.

toes, I was particularly moved by the fact that this is a "green" property.
And yes, those are converted shipping containers.
The mind boggles.
Yes,, containers !!

The containers were probably filled with furniture from Vietnam.
It's cheaper to scrap them or recycle them rather than send back to Asia empty !
15,000 pounds of steel ??
42 degrees and rain in Central New York.
Good day to put my broken ankle up and watch HBO !
Warmth come not soon enough !!

Must get toasty in those containers. Imagine?
Also, you get to put in your own septic!
Well, I'm about to get $5million from my friend in Namibia, so maybe I can look into this.

One man's shipping container is another man's slice of paradise.

LOL, you kind of summed up my thoughts. I think I would be happy in a refrigerator box if I could live on St. John. Shoulda made that kind of decision a long time ago though.
