Rental jeep on unpaved road

I am looking into renting a jeep and have found that several of the rental places do not allow you on unpaved roads unless it is where you are staying.
Does anyone know of a rental place that allows you to go on unpaved roads? I don't want to inquire with the agencies as I'm afraid the question will raise red flags to them about me. This will be our first time renting on St.John as we usually rent on St.Thomas, and this hasn't been an issue in the past.

We rent from L&L. I asked about that policy and asked about a specific road. (Little Lamshur) He said that was not a problem. We found that the road had been mostly paved since the last time we drove it though.
I say ask especially if you have a specific road in mind.

I don't remember seeing that provision on the rental agreements from Cool Breeze, St. John Car Rental, or Penns. What company are you renting from?

We've never had an issue. Most seem to be much more concerned about taking care of the inside and not returning the jeep with a back-end full of sand.

I haven't rented yet but was looking around on line. Most of the rental places don't have there contract on line, of those that did, only one did not say to stay on paved roads. I also e-mailed Conrad Suttons and they replied that it is there policy as well. I need this rental for February, and I think I should have started earlier. I noticed one place, and can't remember which one, but they won't give you the weekly rate during Feb.
Toes in the sand, L&L is the first place I noticed this and Little Lamshur is one of the places I wanted to go. Thanks.

Check with St. John Car Rental. We've never had an issue. As long as you return the vehicle in the same shape as you received it, you should be fine.

I usually go with the "don't ask, don't tell" policy -once we rented in Alaska and I had to go through the car wash twice to get the car clean enough to turn in!

Never really thought about it but we always go 4 wheelin. They would't know anyways unless ya broke down on one. Just wash it if ya give it a mud bath.

The folks at L&L are very easy to work with.
