Phil Chalker told us in July that this is the one threat he feels could and will destroy the fish population, thus the reefs on STJ and other islands if not controlled. It sounds very difficult to control when you think about egg balls with up to 2,000 eggs floating on top of the water, ball dissolves after 24 hours releasing the individual eggs which hatch after 36 hours. I guess I'm assuming correctly in thinking an egg ball could float far from where it originated in 24 hours before dissolving and releasing the eggs? If anyone out there is an expert on lionfish, it would be good to hear more about them.

I've never heard of this before but the article linked talks about people eating lionfish. Does anyone know if that's done in the VIs are do you have to be cautious of cingueterra issues with lionfish as well?
