Okay, I've got my trip planned out but I'm very confused about how to get from St John to Virgin Gorda. I can't make my trip work for the Thursday, Sunday ferry. We need to switch on Tuesday.
I see the only other option as St. John to Tortola and then Tortola to Virgin Gorda. They seem to be coming into different towns West end and Road Town.
Does anyone know how long it would it take to taxi and any ideas on how much?
Also, any other ideas on how to get over to VG would be great.
Thanks so much,
Shandra

I'd say you'll have to take the ferry from STJ to West End Tortola and then taxi to Road Town for the ferry to Virgin Gorda. It's about 20 minute ride to Road Town from West End. I don't know what a taxi will cost but go to
http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/ ... &Board=bvi and ask there for the rates. I think you may also find the ferry schedules and rates on this site.

I think that you may be able to use Dohm's Private Water Taxi Service.
"We are a private charter Water Taxi service that runs anytime and anywhere in the U.S. & British Virgin Islands!"
The link:

Hopefully somebody on this forum has used them and can give you more specific info....mia

Excellent BVI ferry FAQs here with ALL schedules in the "SELECT FERRY SCHEDULE" drop down box near middle of the page.

Try the Red Hook-Road Town ferry. Native Son is one we have taken.

Thanks to everyone and to Rick G.
I don't know how I missed seeing the one from Red Hook. That will make it much easier.
Thanks to everyone,

Hey there,
I am planning a trip to St. John in July with my family. Its been 30 years since I have been there and want to show my son where I went as a kid. With that being said, I did a ton of research and figure this, we are planning on heading over to the BVI and will rent a boat from St John and pilot ourselves over there. It isnt that far and will be able to do it ourselves. Consider that....
