Trunk Bay snack and chairs

Hi, everyone!

Planning to visit Trunk Bay with "older" mom on Friday, Oct. 22nd. Can anyone confirm whether or not they still will be serving a snack bar and what is normally "on the menu"?

It would be easiest to grab something there for lunch - but, I am also considering the idea of maybe calling into Deli Grotto for take out and having a taxi driver stop there quickly on our way to Trunk. We will be coming over from St. Thomas for the day - so, does anyone know whether or not Deli grotto has any cheap/throw away type coolers or anything to keep the sandwiches cold?

Also, another minor point - but, does anyone know what Trunk charges to rent beach chairs?

Thank you,
Sue

Last year price was $7.00 a chair rental and $25.00 deposit for each chair. When you return the chairs, you get the deposit back. Snack bar is good for lunch, hot dogs, burgers, shrimp, fr. fries and cold drinks. Not sure how Storm Otto has affected the snack bar, etc.

Think about taking your Mom to Caneel Bay for lunch. She'd be thrilled.

If they're open (and I don't know why they wouldn't be), you can get hot dogs, burgers, grilled chicken, fries, chips, cold beverages (including some excellent frozen libations), snacks, etc. They may even have a fish sandwich, but I'm not positive. It's decent food (not Deli Grotto, certainly) but very convenient/easy. We rented chairs about 4 years ago, but I'm afraid I don't remember how much they were. You probably know there's a minor charge to get into Trunk. I think it's $4 per person.

Deposit for beach chairs - cash?

Sorry - here is another foolish question. But, does the deposit for the beach chairs need to be cash OR do they take credit cards? I guess that same question might apply for the snack bar, as well.

Again, sorry for the "mundane" questions. Just don't want to be lugging around more cash than necessary.

Oh - funny you should mention the Caneel lunch buffet. That had been my original plan - but, unfortunately they are closed until the end of October. So, I am changing our plans to be a half day at Truck Bay. Have a quick lunch, while we are there. Then, do a 2 hour tour of the island. Grab a nice drink at an oceanfront table in Cruz Bay. Then shop a bit and visit Ruth at St. John Spice. Hopefully, end up closer to 5:30 or so to have an early supper in Wharfside village somewhere - probably leaning towards The Balcony. Then grab a ferry back to St. Thomas.

Thank you!
Sue

You can use a credit card for the chair deposits at Trunk. I think I got the receipt back at the end of the day.

"The Balcony" is now "Spyglass". Didn't have dinner there, but enjoyed a fun happy hour sunset.

My girl, Catherine, at the snack stand will hook you up with really decent grilled chicken sandwiches, or hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken fingers, fries, etc. . . But her real claim to glory is her OUTSTANDING Rum Punch ~ It is potent!!!! Tell her Mimi said, "Hi!!!!"
