Looking for anyone who may have stayed in Palm Hill on Maria Bluff in Great Cruz Bay before. I wanted to see if you liked the house and also how the master bathroom looked. There are no pictures of it. Was the shower big?

Hi Ssuzannelee! We were the second or third family to stay at the Palm Hill Villa when it was first built and we loved it. Nice location, great views, nicely decorated, etc. If you go to the Destination St. John website there are pictures of all 3 bedrooms. The photo on the far left is the master bedroom. The master bath has a large walk in shower with no shower door.

There has been discussion about Palm Hill on this and the Trip Advisor forum. You should take a look at them. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a nice shower, but there is still massive construction just below this house which disrupts the otherwise beautiful view. Although we also enjoyed the house, the lack of comfortable seating on the covered porch was a deal breaker in terms of returning.

We stayed at Palm Hill last November and were disappointed. The construction next door would be finished by now, but the massive project directly below Palm Hill was in full swing and is probably still going on. It was impossible to have quiet, relaxing time on the decks facing Great Cruz Bay, because of the construction below which began at 7:30 and went on until 4 or so. You should also know that there is no AC in the main living areas. That made it hard to shut out the construction noise. Plus, if you close the villa up during the day while you're at the beaches, it's incredibly stuffy when you get home. We finally just locked the screens and crossed our fingers. Additionally, we encountered some leaking in the master bedroom when it rained hard one night. I didn't think the villa was anything special. There are much nicer options on Maria Bluff.

We stayed there in May of last year. I had very few complaints but the biggest one I had was how hot it was in the main building 24/7. Sweat was dripping off us while preparing dinner. One of the people with us had issues with the number of steps to get down to the villa. It's definately not for anyone with mobility issues.
