I was a long time poster on the old Forum, and I've got questions re: a one-day visit. My wife and I have 14 stays on STJ under our belt. We've never been able to talk our two couples of oldest, closest friends into renting a villa with us. With a first-time cruise, we're celebrating three 45th anniversaries, two retirements, and three birthdays. My wife and I managed to make sure STT is on the ship's itinerary. We'd like to ferry to STJ, rent a 6-passenger something-or-other and show the other two couples Paradise in hopes of enticing them to join us for a week or ten days in the future. We'll be docked in STT on Wednesday, October 27. My questions:

*What is the contact info for Rachel for a round-trip ride to Red Hook?

Is it reasonable to assume that the RH ferry will be running in late October, barring storm realted issues?

* We've always rented cars from Penn's...but never attempted a one day rental. Any suggestions for other agencies for a single day rentalin mid-week?

*Any road contruction related reasons we couldn't do a once-around in 5 hours or so?

Rachel's phone number is 340-771-2986 and you should have no problem with the ferry from Red Hook. I'm not familiar with Penn's so you'll have to count on recommendations from others for the car.

I think your time on island is plenty to show them around- and even include some "chill" time at your favorite place/beach so they get the feel of why you love it so much.

I ben you can find a car for the day since it's low season- I would think most agencies would welcome a day's rental over nothing!

We did a cruise with family a few years ago- unfortunately I was not in charge of picking the itinerary so we didn't stop in STT or we would have done exactly what you did-and for the same reasons- but we later talked the family into coming with us to STJ for a week (after we offered to cover a bigger chunk of the costs )
