Has anyone on forum ever stayed at the Windward Passage in Charlotte Amalie? We got a better flight deal arriving a day early and will stay on St Thomas for the night and morning. Any other suggestions for lodging for the night?

Try the Crystal Palace. Many forumites stay there. It's a beautiful place with an outstanding host, who also frequents the forum. Personally I would chose something other than the Windward Passage.

Hi Hartpump,
Have you considered staying on ST John??
We did the exact same thing for our up coming trip. We fly in Friday & do not get the villa until Sat. So we are spending the first night at St John Inn, they do the one night accomadation, also the Inn at Tamarind Court does a one night rental.
Good Luck

We've stayed at the windward passage location before, but it's been a number of years and different management. Location is good though for shopping downtown. Depending on when you're going the ferry may or may not be running so that might factor in. We've also stayed at the green iguana, mafolie, emerald beach resort and crystal palace and on stj at the st John inn and tamarind court all for a night or two at either end of the vacation. All had pluses and minuses, feel free to pm me if you need any specifics.

We also stayed at the Windward Passage several years ago (for several days). It is a great location if you plan to spend the time shopping (sightseeing) in STT. If you're just looking for a place to sleep, then I would agree with others that you head to St. John.
We did a one night at the St. John Inn last year and it worked out great. We had a late flight into STT and there was no problem with the late arrival - they just left the keys to the room taped to the office door
Enjoy your trip.

STJ Inn would be my first choice..but if you want to stay on STT I have an acquaintance whose opinion I trust and he always recommends Emerald Beach Resort. Sometimes their rates are high, you just have to do some checking..They have beachfront rooms from what I understand. Have not stayed there myself..

The last two years we've flown in on a Friday and spent the evening with Ronny at the Crystal Palace. Downtown is walkable, Ronnie picks you up at the airport and he is a charming host.

And this is the view of the harbor and downtown from the front balcony.
By the way Ronnie, if your reading this, we won't be making it this year. My wife's boss won't let her take the extra day for Friday flight.
