Hi, again!

Trying to plan a couple of activities on the island of St. Thomas that my 78 year old mom might enjoy.

We will be staying at Secret Harbour (in the Red Hook area). We will NOT have a vehicle, so will be relying on taxi service. So, I am looking for places closer to that area, if possible.

Any suggestions for sunset cruises? Simple cheese and crackers and cocktails will be fine. Or even a "dinner cruise", as long as the menu is casual and not gourmet. Just might be fun to get out on the water.

Also, wondering if there are any beach parties or any live steel pan/calypso parties or happenings anywhere on any particular nights or afternoons.

As far as the sunset cruise goes, I would just want to be sure that the boat is loaded from a DOCK and not having to access from a dinghy. Also, that there is ample and fairly comfortable seating (ie: not just sitting on the front decking of a Catamaran). Again, just looking for something that mom would be comfortable in.

I strongly recommend the Dinner Cruise from New Horizons. I do it every year, and love it. It docks, and loads at Sapphire Marina.

When we stayed at Secret Harbour in 2007 they had a manager's reception on Sunday nights. It was a nice little gathering at their outside bar area with a few snacks, rum punch, dancing etc. There was a terrific steel drum player there for a couple of hours. It was during sunset and was a nice (FREE) thing that we did while we stayed there. You should call the resort and ask if they still do that. I'm sure your Mom would enjoy it. It wasn't all crazy and rowdy.

I checked the stthomasthisweek.online and it looks like Secret Harbour has live music on Fridays - which works great for us. I did send them off an email to confirm.

I have been on a day sail with New Horizons a few years ago and LOVED it. That does sound like a good deal and might be a great option for us.

I have found a couple of others that seem like possibles - Heavenly Days out of Bolongo have a great online price of $44. Only a 2 hour sail with no meal. But, a decent alternative. I have also found Morningstar Charters - have sent them off an email. But, haven't figured out yet where they sail out of. Again, I am focusing on a "short taxi ride" - so, both Sapphire and Bolongo look good.

Morningstar - a Cheoy Lee 40' sloop sails out of Water Bay - she is on a mooring in front of Pineapple Beach - the closed Wyndham.

Depending on when you are going, Latitude 18, which is a restaurant/bar, during the winter has the Sun Mountain Fiddler & his band (sunmountainfiddler.com) You can check his website-they are usually there starting January up through at least March I think. The place has great food, is a covered outside restaurant and the band is alot of fun and you'll laugh alot!! The location is not far from where you're staying.
