Do you "Twitter" ?

I don't very often, but I do "follow" some news sites and interesting (to me) individuals. One I discovered lately is Douglas Wheelock who is on-board the International Space Station... "tweeting" really cool pics from a perspective I'll never experience in person.

Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I don't tweet, but I'm bookmarking this page. I posted a link to the Hurricane Earl photo on FB.

I resisted for a long time, but now I love it.
Mostly a follower, but by selecting the right things to follow I can keep up on current market news, along with sports and weather, very efficiently.
I don't bother with the celebs, which is what I originally thought twitter was all about.

That is pretty much my story also.
Of course, I have about 275 FB "likes" with several addtional "Friends", uncounted blogs I try to follow on blogger.com, the forums on this website, 5 webcams, plus I follow about 40 Twitters. Where has my day gone???

Okay, I am the devil's advocate. I don't do Facebook because I don't want any of the 4,000 folks I work with knowing about me, personally. I joined Twitter only to view my Supt's Twitter updates. I don't own a farm, my folks did when I was growing up and it was huge and raised 2,000 or more head of cattle. That was farming.
My question is how do folks get work done at work if all they do is Tweet and Facebook? I have a coworker that can't do her job because she's on her Facebook all the time at work. She even comes in late because she's been on her Facebook until 3 am. And she's our receptionist!!!
I have over 100 work emails to take care of on one day and the same with voice mail messages. When would I have time for FB or TW? I think I need to change jobs so I have more time for this. My addiction is St.John website and that is it. Honestly! Am I prehistoric?
Does anyone else find this a problem. Is it just me?

I have a twitter account but rarely tweet. I am a much more frequent Facebook status updater. There are applicants that will tweet your status automatically but I haven't done that research!
One hysterical twitterer I follow:

No.
But I do use FB (as you know)... though I don't update my status often because I'm pretty boring.

Terry, my excuse is that I was unemployed for so long, and even though I have a job now, I work mostly nights, so I can spend a lot of time on the computer every day. When I am a work, I don't even have access to a computer that's hooked-up to the Internet, and at my other part-time job, I can go on the Internet, but I've promised not to go on Facebook, ever since I got a nasty computer virus on my personal computer there. But between Facebook and the Forum, I don't know where I'd find time to tweet!

I started this thread because I wished to share the link to Douglas Wheelock's tweets from space. His pics are really neat, I think.
My later comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, yet pretty honest.
I signed up for Twitter when Anthony first added it to this website... about a year and a half ago. At that time I had a FB account, but was not at all active... didn't even have one friend! Twitter seemed like a fun way for in-the-moment updates from STJ. FB is now the path to keeping up with everyone, not matter where they are or what they are doing!

In that time period I have tweeted 33 times; I have 14 followers (bored with me, no doubt) and I follow 34.... A quick glance once or twice a day, probably less than one minute takes care of my daily twit attacks.
For the past two years, VIOL is where I used to spend my major online time... lurking first, then blabbering about everything. Total daily time here was an hour or so.
My life changed mid-February this year when an illness kept me sitting in a chair for most of my awake time. Reading was difficult. TV has no appeal. I don't knit. The cats sleep a lot! I discovered that FB had gone very public, and it was like a new toy of discovery. A nice lady named Ruth found me... a habit of constant keyboard, screen, and me developed.
I am now once again in control of my life (95%) and have much catching up to do. My visits to these websites are still fairly frequent but pretty brief; I am trying not to talk so much! The blogs I follow are easy to flip through - the topics are updated and I choose only those that look interesting. They are on one site and I simply scroll down.
If I were employed or had children at home, I am sure that I could not spend nearly as much time online as I currently do. I am hopeful that I can soon resume real time activities that I have enjoyed in the past and be clicking away much less. I do believe being involved in sites like Facebook can be addictive and very time consuming.
Blah, Blah, Blah....
Pickle, you are anything but boring!

Iprof,
I, in no means, meant anything negative toward you and I hope you know that I mean that.
I am sorry for whatever illness you struggled through.
If I were in your shoes, Lord knows I'd be on line more, for sure.
I get asked all the time to be a FB friend and just cannot do that at this point in my life. It does have it's purpose.
Hope you are doing much better and I only wish you well.

I don't do anything with Twitter or Facebook. I don't really have time with work, family and activities I enjoy. I already spend time on various Caribbean forums, wishing I was there and enjoying people's pics and trip reports. I will confess that every time someone mentions a villa, I enjoy looking it up on-line.
Once in a while, I am tempted to get onto FB, because some of my long-distance friends on are on it. I would also like to see what my twenty-something niece and nephews are up to...or maybe not! However, I stick with phone calls and emails with long distance friends and I am happy with that. Sometimes I feel like I spend way too much time on-line and should be out with friends in person, so I am concerned about being sucked in even more if I join FB. But that's just me.

Terry, I did not view your post or anyone's as negative.
Anyone who is working, traveling, or living a "normal" life will not have the time to spend on the internet that I have spent over these last seven months. Perhaps I was clearing my head as well as explaining why I had the time to be online so much.
My illness was eventually diagnosed as an unusual variant of Meniere's Disease. I was fortunate not to have the dizziness or spinning that many experience, and there was no pain. My balance was affected so that walking was nearly impossible. It was a terrible interruption in my life, but I am so thankful that it was not one of so many more terrible diseases. Time, understanding, acceptance, and two rounds of rehab have resulted in great improvement.
Thank you for your good wishes. Maybe we'll be Facebook friends some day!
