Thank you. I didn't have much to take photos of, so it had to be flowers and cats  .

Yes, it's a Dahlia. It was supposed to be short with small pink flowers and it ended up to be very tall with gigantic purple flowers. Hmmm... and I also bought another one that turned out yellow instead of red. Next year I buy them someplace else

The photos look really great, Maggy. Did you take them with the simple auto setting or did you manually set the camera for each shot? Hope you receive your underwater housing soon - it seems to be taking a long time (is it because of where you live?).

Congrats on the new camera Maggy! Enjoy it- I love mine! I am also interested in your settings for those shots. I play around with mine- sometimes in auto, but often in manual or aperture mode. Great little camera!

Beautiful!! Especially the dahlia. My old boss had a dahlia garden and used to bring me huge bouquets for my desk every week when they were in season. Love those flowers. :)

Thank you! These photos are taken with the auto setting. Have not started to experimenting with the manual settings yet. I need to study the manual before I'll do that.

I hope the uw housing is arriving soon. From what I know it's Canon that has delivery problems. Whether it has to do with Sweden not being a priority market or not, I don't know. Sep 23 is now expected delivery date.

I have been looking for a new camera and have done a lot of research on line thanks to Pickle who pointed me in the right direction. I had actually been thinking about a DSLR entry level camera.

Yesterday I went to Best Buy to check out the cameras and I actually decided on the G11. After seeing your pictures I am really sold.

I would like to get a DSLR camera but those are some hefty boys. I was trying to see how comfortable they were in my hands and you know what, it ain't worth it to me. They weigh a ton. If I was really into professional photography I could see it but the G11 just felt comfortable in my hands.

What kind of underwater housing did you order? I would like to get one but I am really nervous about water getting in a ruining the camera.

Thanks for the great pictures.

I ordered Canon WP-DC34 which is Canon's uw housing for the G11. There are others (like Ikelite) but they are so much more expensive and so far, the Canon uw housing has worked for me. You just have to be very careful about not getting anything like sand, hair inside. I never open the uw case on the beach etc and I always rinse it with fresh water after using it. Also use the silicone gel and don't let the o-ring dry out. You can test the housing in the water without the camera first.

Hi Maggy,
I guess I missed the decision to get the g11.
I can tell already how much you like it.
Good luck w/ it. It really is a wonderful camera!!!
I too look forward to island pics, especially the spectacular ones you will take underwater.

Susan...you did EXACTLY what I did a year ago at Best Buy. I got the g11 and have never regretted it.

Thanks Carolyn,
I had looked at the Canon S90 because it had gotten good reviews but my previous camera was a Fujifinepix which was a little larger and had a grip on the side.

The S90 just didn't feel like a camera! I guess it's what your used to.
