What's your "go to" Road Trip food?

A discussion on FB with some pals made me think of this.
There are certain foods that I ALWAYS get before or on a road trip: Chocolate Moon Pies and Bugles.
And I'll often try some random caffeinated drink that I haven't tried before to go along with them.
But the Bugles and Moon Pies are consistent.
I don't eat them or buy them otherwise. Period.
I could never imagine eating either of these things outside of a car with less than three hours to go on the journey.
So that begs the question, how many other folks out there do the same thing? And what is your "go to" road trip food?
Just curious....

Wine and Beer. There, I admit it. In the country, everyone pops-a-top.
We have a cabin and when we are packing up, I have a little tiny cooler for wine (me) and beer I put under my seat.
Once we hit where the roads no longer have lines, I crack a beer.
The location of our cabin and STJ have a lot of similarities.....

Homemade trail mix with roasted nuts and lots of good dried cut up fruits.
Although, I do have to say I like your moonpie & bugels idea. Where I live we eat moonpies and drink rc cola's. Haven't had either in probably 30 years. LOL
Enjoy your road trips!!

I remember my Dad ALWAYS had to have Ginger Snap cookies on our summer vacation trip.
I have more of a sweet tooth - it's "Circus Peanuts" and Dots Candy for me!

oh boy, when we were kids many moons ago if we went on a ski trip it was 'secret energy' which was bakers semisweet chocolate.....in the car, on the chair lift.... now our road foods are decidedly uninspired...consisting bascially of fritos or soem other crap that we never have in the house. i eat a few of those and SWEAR that i will never eat them again!.....hmmmm fritos reminds me that i need to do a TR in the of topic forum........

I used to love to stop for fast food on a road trip or in an airport since I normally never eat it.
After losing a considerable amount of weight, we have become people that pack a cooler for our long trips (or flights), but we are boring now
Turkey sandwiches
Sun chips
100 calorie packs of Lorna Doones
Snack bag of Almonds
Boring, huh?
