How long does it usually take after a storm like Earl for the water to clear up? Just wondering. I'll be there next Tuesday! Yeah!

We had some high surf advisories out on the NS beaches during our last trip, no snorkelling, but the SS beaches were calm. By mid week the NS had calmed down and was snorkelable (is that a word?) again. It seemed to clear up pretty quickly once it was calm.
After a storm event like earl, i have no idea, maybe a couple days? maybe Pia or others on island can chime in and say.
A bigger concern would be the future gaston looming out there. Right now tracking towards the leewards for a monday arrival. But still a long way out. Either way, you are in for an adventure. Stay safe.

We were there in 08 during Omar. We did not snorkel the day after the storm came through, but we were able to snorkel Frances and Maho the following day. There were warnings about getting in the water because of all the runoff, but we still went.
Visibility wasn't perfect, but we still saw plenty. That trip is the only time we've seen an amazing Spotted Eagle Ray at Maho. By the time we left the water was clear and gorgeous again and that was about 3-4 days after the storm!
