Has anyone rented a scooter / motorcycle from Beach Scooters in Cruz Bay? (
www.beachscooters.us) Anyone used one all week instead of a rental car? There are obvious disadvantages in doing so, but its cheaper and could be more fun.

I'm not sure if this is your first visit. I can't imagine it being a good idea for any reason...way too dangerous. I'm scared in jeep sometimes!

Hubby and I ride a lot, but would never do so on St John. The roads are just not right for it.

We also ride and I wouldn't do a scooter in St John. To many unexpected things come up in a jeep, at least they got airbags to protect you. Lots of blind curves and a few peeps that forget to keep left. Not worth the risk and you really don't save much. Be very careful if ya go that scooter route.

It would be fun. Except for the other vehicles. People have a hard enough time "seeing" motorcycles stateside. Now, go to STJ with the combination of very hilly, narrow, often slick, roads with many tourists, many exhausted from either a day of travel or a day on the water, often enibreated, that are awestruck by the scenery, driving on the wrong side of the road.
Now if only motorcycles were allowed, and everybody drove them, I would live there and make a living doing brake jobs on them because of the way the roads are, everybody lives on their brakes on a bike there.
