What is the island like in mid December? I thought we had a trip nailed down for mid-October but my work schedule has changed and won't be able to travel then.

Take a look at this thread. It should answer most of your questions: http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/f ... hp?t=17549

December in St. John is gorgeous. And there is nothing quite like a palm tree covered in twinkling holiday lights.

GiGi, we have only been to St. John in December so I can't compare it. I know you have been to Kauai also, and to compare them both in December, I can say that the water and weather is much warmer in St. John. I know the forum has mentioned how much busier it is but we haven't noticed. I guess that is because we can't compare St. John in the off-season.

Were you asking about weather or crowds or something else?

xoxo

I was wondering about both the crowds and the temps. I am hoping we can get something that still is in "off season" rates. It would be a nice xmas gift to myself!

Our first visit to STJ was in December '07 and it was heaven. Not too hot, water was beautiful and we didn't find it very crowded. We left on Christmas Eve as the holiday vacationers were arriving.

We have always gone the first 2 weeks of December. Still low season - no crowds and villas are cheaper and the weather is perfection! Holiday lights everywhere, kid's Christmas party in the park, All Island Holiday Party at Mongoose Junction! It's pure perfection for us!
