Does any one have experience renting from Hertz, I was hoping to use reward points for the rental.

All I know is that if you rent from Hertz on St. Thomas, you cannot take the car over to St. John via the car ferry / barge (from what I've read on many other posts).

That's one of the reasons we are not using Hertz for our upcoming St. Thomas vacation.

Was afraid about that. I guess I should confirm with the Hertz directly

I rented from Hertz on STT last week, no problems except they did not have a Jeep as I requested when we arrived. We made out OK with a Camry but there are villa rentals on the island where you definitely need a 4WD.

Hertz definitely won't let you take cars on the ferry...unless they've changed their policy in the last few months. It says it in the fine print on the website too I believe.

I am vacationing in St. John next month and tried to use my Hertz Gold reward points to book a car on St. John just a few weeks ago. I was told that you can not use Hertz reward points at this location because it is considered International (I'm in the US). If you get a different response from them I would love to know it.

I just got off the phone with Hertz. The cars can not be taken on the ferry, so I never reached the issue of whether I could use reward points.

Otto, Im intereted in knowing if Hertz at STT told you anything different about taking the car to St. John?
