We have a group of 8 of us sailing the islands in May and will arrive in St. Thomas the night before. Is the Windward Passage Hotel the old Holiday Inn? Is that hotel ok for one night? Thanks for any information. I have only stayed in St. Thomas once since we always go right to St. John.

Yes that's the old Holiday Inn I believe, right downtown Charlotte Amalie, haven't stayed there since it was the HI so can't tell you more.

I've only been in one of their rooms (not Waterfront view), and it was an Ok room. It looks like the furniture was recently upgraded, but the room itself showed a little more wear. I'be heard it can get pretty noisy on the back side, and you may hear loud popping sounds. The hotel is clean and convenient with good security. They get many business people and government employees. You should survive it with no problems.

The Hotel is fine -- especially for one night - close to the BVI ferry and Seaplane dock - walk to Frenchtown for dinner .
Windward Passage is always making the premises better, cleaner and much more than good business hotel - I think the desk staff is really knowledgeable and helpful.

You might want to look at Emerald Beach - if the price is close -- it has beachfront and swimming.
