I wonder if anyone on the rock rents tents for camping at Cinnamon? It came to mind today and I thought that would be great if so. With airlines charging for baggage the last thing you would want to do is drag along a tent!Comments?? Have a great weekend y'all...Parafins

You know...we have thought about doing this, and probably will...But, I think we will just bring ours, Wally World has small ones that would easily fit into a checked bag for less that 50.00 and from what I have read the tents they have although on platforms and have cots Etc do not zip up only tie. And I hate to say it, because Ive never seen it, so I cant say for sure is I have read on their Forum :
http://groups.google.com/group/cinnamonbay That some have had tree rats get in the tents. So for that reason...I will just bring ours. In fact the upcoming trip was to be hubby and I in a tent (ours) and then the kids decided they wanted to come and then my mom...and so on and so on...so we ended up just getting a condo.
We stayed in a Cottage last yr at Cinnamon Bay and loved the location. We are hoping for a spring trip...in our tent if nothing else...We also had thought about bringing an old one we have and then seeing if someone might want us to leave it for them...but Id like to know someone would use it and it wouldnt just get tossed before I do that...

All I can offer are some words from The Mamas & The Papas' song Creeque Alley:
"Tents low rent, but keeping out the heat's hard."
It seems like you would just cook in a tent!

If you do this, I'll be interested to hear how it was!

I haven't heard anything about tent rentals on STJ except for the canvas ones (which isn't what you have in mind).
I have camped at Cinnamon a couple of times and pack my tent (weighs less than 3 lbs) but had to downgrade my thermarest to something lighter weight as my top-of-the-line thermarest weighs much more than the tent.
Regarding the cheap $50 tent. Ensure it has a great rain fly on it unless you can be assured of having tarp coverage.

Yes, It had a fly on it...but Im sure we would either bring or ship down a tarp just to be sure we stay as dry as possible..(along with my air mattress)..
