Just wondering has anyone rented from Kayak and picking car up at airport-St.Thomas? Would luv to be able to get to St. John at least 3 times while we are staying at Morning Star-remember that's where we finally decided to stay-free trip.Just can't see taking a taxi everytime we want to go someplace. Also has anyone ever had trouble not booking directly through rental on island when it comes time to pick up car?

I wouldn't rent from one of those online travel web sites because most of them don't let you know what car rental company you are getting until you book. And a lot of them will hook you up with Hertz, and if you rent from Hertz you can't take your car over to St. John. So, if you don't know what company you'll be dealing with, it's way too risky to chance it.

And, many of the local car rental places offer rates comparable to what you'd get on one of those Web sites.

If you get a really good deal and you know what company you'll be working with -- go for it. But if you don't, then just book with someone directly. I am getting back in the habit of going right to the source for things just because it's easier to deal directly if something goes wrong. If you use one of those "brokers" sometimes people don't want to deal with you.
