OK, my inner geek loved this interview and thought it was worth a share.
Here's the question I have to ask: If they can have ATM's at the SOUTH POLE on ANTARCTICA why can't they get a freaking ATM on Jost van Dyke?
Just sayin.'
A fascinating interview with a VP of Wells Fargo on their ATMS located at the South Pole:

I'm right there with ya! First trip didn't know there wasn't an atm on JVD. The second and third trip we just forgot to hit the atm before the ferry. Now the new plan is to leave 2 $100 bills and 5 $20 bills in the passport. We dont use the passports anyways for the airport check in, only for BVI customs. It's just enough really for the taxi and little things we may buy. The rest from Soggy Dollar to Ivan's gets charged!

Just make sure that you take the money out of your passport before you check in at customs. In most countries, having money in your passport is considered bribing a border guard. I know that's how Americans get into Cuba without incident.

When we are filling out the paperwork on the boat thats when we take the money out and put it into our wallets. Customs agent gets only the passport and docs.

Just checking. Although if I had to be in the slammer, the British Virgin Islands might be nice... Cell with a view, perhaps?
