Hi everyone! I will be staying on Island with 3 friends in early May. Am looking at "Bay House" on Coral Bay's South(?)shore. I know it's near "Island Blues". Like the fact it's walking distance to bar/restaurant but can it be too noisy there?
Also considering a beachfront cottage on Johnson Bay. I'm not at all familiar with this bay. Any pros/cons would be welcomed.
Thanks everyone!

hi there! Not sure of your party..but my family of 4, with 2 small kids stayed at Bay House last summer and loved loved loved it. Great "suite" rooms downstairs..each with their own bathrooms. Upstairs...great views....like 4 or 6 sets of sliding glass doors opening to awesome porches. Pool down a level from the decks. Laundry off one of the bedrooms. Up the hill from the market, and a few restaurants....
We loved the house....
kitchen was sort of "old school"...but we weren't cooking any big meals...so it was fine for us...

Thanks Holly! I guess it can't be too noisy if your little ones fell asleep. I've stayed at the Westin and above Cruz Bay, but wanted to do Coral Bay area this time. My party consists of 4 adults:myself,a co-worker,a life-long friend and her husband. Two of us have been here before the other two are VIVs (Virgin Island Virgins). The only thing we might miss are the sunsets. I'm guessing since we'd be toward the East end facing North, we wouldn't see any really good ones. But I'll just take them to Cruz Bay bars or North beaches to see them! Thanks again, Holly

We've stayed at Seabiscuit, the neighboring villa to BH.
We loved the location,-just awesome. Island Blues did in fact have a bit of noise at night, but nothing too loud to bear, by any means. Keep in mind there were 4 of us "30 Something's" enjoying the home, and we did our fair share of partying. The noise wasn't bad at all, mostly music & laughter, which made for great background noise while we bbq'd, and enjoyed our own tunes on the deck.
Generally quieted down relatively early; 9-10ish.
Loved the location, and would love to try Bay House! (Still might be an upcoming villa pick for next Spring...)
Hope I helped, and didn't spook you!
Smiles-
MJ

Coral Bay establishments generally do not stay open late. I know Skinny Legs in particular shuts down at a very reasonable hour.
Many of the folks that work in Coral Bay, live in Coral Bay and tend to follow the golden rule of "Don't $%!* where you eat." After all they have to live with their neighbors and are fairly courteous about noise.
As for the locations, Johnson Bay is on the way to Salt Pond and is nice enough.
I generally prefer the Coral Bay area for our stays these days. Cruz Bay just seems too buys to me. I like the relative peace and quiet of the area, even if it does require a bit more driving to get to and from places.
Now that there is Lilly's Market and an increasing number of places to grab a bite to eat in the Coral Bay area it's easier to stick around and not have to go into "town."
Oddly enough, waayyy back in the day it was actually Coral Bay that was considered the hub of the island. Funny how things change!
Bay House feedback thank-you

Thanks to everyone who answered me.
Iluvstjohn(Holly)-I've seen alot of sunsets, but no sunrises so this will be a nice change. I'll have my camera ready. (And maybe a Mimosa, too!)
Gromit-I was considering Johnson Bay because of a cute little cottage right on the water, but I think it might be too secluded. I like mingling and talking to new people.
Mahojim-We're a group of 50-somethings(3) and a 40-something who will probably be the loudest ones in the bar but still like to sit back with a cold one and watch the world go by, so this sounds perfect for us. I'll check out Seabiscuit, too.
Hugs and kisses to you all for your input. Much appreciated!
Nancie, in little old Gilbertsville,Pa.

I think rhumb runners is in the same area as bay house and Seabiscuit, and has a similar layout.
