Thanks mscolleen,
Was having trouble getting rid of our ticker from two years ago.
Well we have a new ticker. We are heading back to St John May 2011. Villa booked, frequent flyer miles booked (which is why we had to do it so far out).
We went to Eleuthera this May looking for a change of scenery. The island is very flat a scruffy with one main "highway" that runs 110 miles from one end to the other. If you see one car while driving 30 miles it is a bid deal. The beaches were beautiful with no one on them. Not much snorkeling at all which surprised me. We had a fantastic house on Double Bay just above the dunes. Coffee in the am and then you could just walk on the beach for miles. That part was great. We were in the center of the island but getting anywhere just seemed to take forever. The beaches are not marked and you have to travel down dirt roads until you hit the water. People were very friendly, food pretty good.
Only bad part was getting robbed while we slept the night before we left. Very scary, they came in thru my sisters sliding doors in her bedroom. Thank God she did not hear them. They took my hook bracelet that I have had and worn for 5 years and some money but that is all replaceable!
I went on the Eleuthera forums looking for info. before our trip and I must say that there is not much activity. One of the forums also had a very nasty vibe to it.
I did sneak back to USVI I have to admit just to see what was going on. Well now I am back and looking forward to our trip in May.
It's good to be home.
