Villa Suggestions

I like many of you have looked at hundreds of villas on line for our next trip to St. John. I figured I would get some suggestions based on your experiences.

This is our second trip. Our first trip was last year and we stayed at Sea Scape. We loved the big lap pool, privacy, and proximity to the water (we could hear waves crashing while on the deck at night). The interior was a little dated and the AC wasn't perfect but we are outside 95% of our time there.

So, we are looking for a nice pool again, and if we can be near the water (not beach necessarily) and have a nice sized pool that would be great. AC in bedrooms is probably necessary as well. The change is that we will have our 4 year old with us so the pod style building set up will not work. He doesn't have to be on the same floor, but the same building is necessary. Again, the pool size is probably one of the bigger concerns as we will be at the villa more since our son will be there.

Our budget is around $2,500, staying off season next year (2nd week of May), and we are willing to stay on either side of the island.

So, with all of that, any suggestions?

Le Lapin II ($2436 + 5% fee + 8% tax) in Hart Bay has a fairly large pool, 34 x12 - one end is deeper than the other. Everything is in one building and there is an internal stairway to two identical master bedrooms upstairs (there are two more bedrooms downstairs). The villa has a wrap-around deck and the views of St. Thomas to the west and Dittlef Point and beyond to the east, which means you get both sunrise and sunset views. I think we could hear some or maybe a little bit of surf from the deck facing east/Hart Bay but can't really remember. To get to the pool you walk down a few steps and then there is a small gate to enter the pool deck, so there should be less worry about small children accidentally falling into the pool. The house is not fancy but probably nicer than Seascape. The road leading to the villa was a bit rough - at least it was about 5 years ago when we stayed there.

Thank you for the suggestion and the link. It's nice to get perspective and pics from someone who has stayed there. It's on our short list. It looks like the sunset views are amazing.
