Ferry info

I know this information is on here somewhere but I can't find it. For the first time, we are staying on St. Thomas but will be coming over to St. John a few times, sometimes with the car and sometimes just on the passenger ferry. Can anyone direct me to where all the ferry info is. Thanks.

Look at the light blue bar at the top of the page and select the one that says "Trip Planning".
From there select "Getting Around", and then "Ferry Schedules".

Just remember the car ferry is not 100% - yesterday for example, 2 of the 4 barges were down (Capt Vic is now back) and they were running approx one barge every two hours (give or take) and this can change hourly never mind daily

When you take the car ferry, just make sure you don't buy a round trip ticket. That way you can hope on whatever barge is there. It's a little more, but well worth it.

Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay - 10 a.m, 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Ok, I've seen different fares at different sights. What's the current fares for adults and bags?
(Specifically, I'm looking for Red Hook/Cruz Bay, but I'm sure others might be interested in the CA/Cruz Bay fares.)

Those times do me no good whatsoever. Can you fix that? Can't you manipulate the ferry schedules from the kiosk?

OK Pip, just get to the CA ferry by 4pm and tell them I sent you and I'm sure they will do everything they can do to get you to STJ by, oh say 6pm

I tried to take the 11:15 Charlotte Amalie from Cruz Bay yesterday and it SOLD OUT. I've never had that happen before, but you might want to be to the dock to catch the earlier Red Hook ferry just in case. Usually ferry people kind of freak out if you try to buy a CA ticket before the Red Hook ferry leaves...but I'm glad I was hanging at the dock this time! The CA 11:15 left before 11am, and the Red Hook ferry ended up leaving about 11:05 to accommodate the people trying to take the CA ferry.

Any idea WHY the ferry people get so bent out of shape if you even try to ASK a question about the different ferries? I've sort learned the ropes now, but on my first trip I tried to politely ask a question about the CA ferry when they were selling tickets for the Red Hook ferry. It was my first time on St John and I wasn't sure which one I wanted and just wanted to ask a simple question. The woman selling the tickets got very upset with me even though there were very few people at the ferry dock at that particular time and told me that I had to wait until she reopened the window to sell the CA tickets. I could certainly understand if I were holding up the line or preventing others from getting on the Red Hook ferry in time but that wasn't the case at all and I wasn't even certain that I wanted a CA ticket at the time. I didn't know if she was having a bad day or if I had somehow some off as rude. I've been back several times now and have seen other newbies treated this same way if they try to ask the ticket sellers questions. All of the porters are so nice and helpful but the ticket people always seem so irritated with tourists! Are there some "unwritten rules" about ferry etiquette???
