sailboats or powerboats?

We are looking to visit The Baths via the forum's recommended charters: either NHII or Stormy Petrel/Pirates Penny.
Are these powerboats?
If so, are there any SAILboats that do this?
Also-if we wanted to do a day sail, who would you recommend?
Thanks so very much!!!!!

Fewer daysails go to the Baths anymore from the USVI because of the distance involved and the added time and paperwork needed to clear customs.

Cpt. Clark of Whitewing goes to the Baths. He's who we always sail with. He's great. However, I would be inclined to do my Baths trip on a powerboat so that you have more time there. I would do a separate daysail.

Yes indeed Clark will go there providing the wind is cooperating of course. Whitewing is a pretty swift sailboat and he will check you back into customs the next day vs. racing back for the 4pm deadline.
But if you have your heart absolutely set on the Baths, you may want to stick to the power boat options of the NHII or Stormy Petrel/Pirates Penny. Plus the Limnos charter operation has its fans.

Go with the power boat. It'll get you faster and you'll have more time to snorkel.

Have done the daysail and the power boat and prefer the power boat. It could be because the sailboat was VERY tight for 6 adults and 2 crew, or it could have been because the winds weren't great and we spent more time using the engine then actually sailing.
I just was more comfy on the powerboat. Pirate's Penny is a great one, I think they max out at 8 and you still have room to move around and their crew was awesome!
