Ten days at Concordia - Part 2

part one
Wednesday June 2.
This was our first full day on St. John and I was itching to get out and do stuff. Looking back at the photos, we did more today than a lot of other days. I finally slowed myself down after a couple days and just enjoyed doing whatever.
So our first thing to do was grocery shop. We went to Lilys in Coral Bay and grabbed a few things like milk, bread, etc etc. Boring details but it happened so I'm writing about it. I'm pretty sure we just grabbed some breakfast at the Concordia store. They have bagels and coffee and stuff there which was really convenient most days of the trip. We also rented our snorkel gear there for the week.
Anyways, back to E6 to drop off the groceries and get things for the beach. Headed down to Salt Pond Bay since it's so close.

As you can see it was pretty overcast and hazy. The snorkeling was great because it was our first day of snorkeling. Looking back at photos, the sun being hidden reduced visibility in the water a bit.

We still had fun and got out of there around Noon. I wanted to drive over to Lameshur since I'd never done that. But I don't have any photos because we just drove there and back. We were also too hungry to swim anymore that day. Unfortunately we didn't make it back over there this trip, but that's ok. I'll just have to go back.
Wanting to stay close to our place and relax, what better place to grab lunch than The Tourist Trap?
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701623800/" title="The Tourist Trap by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4017/470 ... 4ac3ce.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="The Tourist Trap"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4700990765/" title="Drink Right Keep Left by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/470 ... b383be.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Drink Right Keep Left"></a>
It's pretty much at Concordia. The food is awesome, the drinks are awesome, and the people are awesome. I got a drink right keep left and a chili dog while the gf just got the lobster roll. Everything was great. No photos of the food because we inhaled it!
After that was a stop back at our place to rinse off and rest a bit. It was so hot. I had to stay in front of one of the small fans in the tent if I didn't want to immediately start sweating profusely. I went out to explore a bit and take some photos to get a bit of a breeze while my stayed in a read her book.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701551088/" title="Drunk Bay by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4064/470 ... 11c661.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Drunk Bay"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701550652/" title="Eco-tents by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/470 ... fba83c.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Eco-tents"></a>
After a little nap and a shower it was time to go find some dinner. But first I wanted to drive to the East End, or at least part of the way to check it out. My first trip in 2007 was really short and I never made it out that way. So we drove around for a little bit.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701551332/" title="East End Road by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/470 ... cf3fd8.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="East End Road"></a>
Hit a bit of St. John traffic
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4700917469/" title="Donkey Traffic by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1272/470 ... ee3b7f.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Donkey Traffic"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4700917525/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4069/470 ... 99016a.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Donkeys"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701551434/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4043/470 ... 7d6f47.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="IMG_7887_LG"></a>
I had a lot of fun on that drive. I was still getting used to driving a Jeep since I drive a Mini Cooper at home. I was probably about twice as high off the ground!
We made our way back toward Coral Bay and went to Shipwreck for dinner. So friggin delicious. Again no photos of food because we were too busy eating it. I know I got a Shipwreck Shake and one of their steaks. GF got something else that was super delicious but I forget what it was. I'll remember it if I think for a bit...
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4700918303/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4061/470 ... 023fdf.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Shipwreck Landing"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmhouse/4701551686/" title="Shipwreck Landing by matt house, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/470 ... 92b41f.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Shipwreck Landing"></a>
So with full bellies we made our way back to Concordia. It didn't take too long before we fell asleep. 9pm feels like midnight! But that set the stage for getting up early the next day and hitting up another beach nice and early.
