Hello all,
Just when I am ready to kick back and relax and enjoy my last two days in St John, I find out the professional photographer (family friend) is not coming.. and the Westin cannot take guests on the ferry unless they are checking in that day... not the day after.. (something to do with not having a Taxi license ???)
But I refuse to give in..
So my trusted advisors.. any photographers out there you can recommend to document the nuptials?
I resolved the Westin problem by telling the dozen or so that needed a ferry the day they checked in for the week to stay elsewhere and hired a boat for them all... (glad I came down this week and tried to book the Westin ferry, that would have been very messy!!)
Not meant to beat up on the Westin, we still have some guests staying there..

I do wonder how the workers get to take the ferry home though....
Any Photogs in STJ in June?

we used Bob schlesinger at tropical focus----you can google his site--he is on island and did a GREAT job (recommitment at Francis bay 2.5yrs ago) you should speak to him--reasonable price and a very nice guy--he likes a 21 yr old glenlivet........)

SJ from NJ,
If this is a joke... you got me, I am responding..
As a NY'er I know sometimes I type to fast for NJ folk..

Just kiddin the bride is from Spring Lake.
The guests are checking in (were checking in) at the W- on day 2 of their stay, on day one they are staying elsewhere as part of the wedding fun..
They could not take the ferry if they were not checking in that day (day 1).. It confused me too at first.. but I went to the Westin (today) and asked the manager to be sure before telling them the news..
Hope that helps..

Definitely check out Bob's site. I follow him on Facebook and never let one of his picture-posts go by without taking a look at St. John special occasions as seen through his lens.

Liam,
You know there is a public ferry, right?
A private taxi is really nice, but there is the public option...I guess that is what SJ is saying.

Or if you want to do Dohms Water taxi (more expensive than the public ferry) that's another option.

Thank you again everyone... But most services are booked up..
Lucky for me Earl is "On the Job" and is taking care of getting the crew from the airport to the island.
I have been running supplies and dealing with the different islands ports for the past few days for international boats coming in and taking the car ferry daily.
The construction on the road to Red Hook and the heat on the car ferry will be too much for the older folks..
PS: The ferry from CA was tiny yesterday and more like a speed boat ride..
PS: I took the ferry with Stan from Concordia this week. We had a nice chat. This has been one heck of a week in STJ..

I am not sure if you have found a photographer yet but I could recommend Eric Johnson, Paradise Pictures. He is out of STT but does travel to STJ. We had our family photos done at Maho this spring and are very pleased.
