I haven't had many chances to continue posting pics from our trip last month, but I'm going to do a couple from Saltpond. This is the first trip that we didn't go up to Ramhead, but we did make the short walk over to Drunk Bay. I really would recommend for anyone that walks down to Saltpond Bay to walk around to the island's ever changing art gallery of Drunk Bay.
Anyway, the morning we went we were the first ones there and had the beach to ourselves for about an hour.

When folks started arriving we took the walk over to Drunk Bay.

There were about 5 or six little birds that seemed to be very agitated by my presence around the actual salt pond itself, and they kept coming right at me. I was lucky enough to get a couple of pretty good shots of them. Here is my favorite. They were much smaller then this one looks in the picture:

When we came back to the bay the beach was filling up:

We headed up the hill shortly there after and counted 22 more people coming down the hill as we were heading up.

Love Salt Pond Beach - have had it to ourselves once or twice - every time the salt pond has looked different - Drunk Bay is always a trip in itself.

We never made it to Salt Pond last trip at all. It's the first trip in nearly 20 years that we haven't done Salt Pond. I guess we were just too lazy. We love the snorkeling out at the rocks.

Love the pictures! Went to Salt Pond in 2006 but wasn't too impressed with the snorkeling (except for seeing a nurse shark). I saw rocks WAY out in the center but that was a little daunting...are these the rocks folks mention when they talk about the snorkeling here? I snorkeled the left and right sides of the bay but again, wasn't that impressed.

The rocks in the center are along way out but have some great snorkling

I first snorkeled the left side of Saltpond 7 years ago and it was many times more alive then they are now. I've been told that it's due to rising water temps.
If you want a better snorkel walk a little further to the Blue Cobblestone Beach and go around the right side. Huge elkhorns,etc.
