Fins and blisters

Anybody else get blisters on their feet after they go snorkeling a lot? I still have a couple of scars on the inside arches of my feet from our last trip. I like my fins and they seem to fit fine (they're real long and have the straps around the ankles).

Was considering wearing some kind of aqua sock inside my fins this time around. Do they make an aqua sock for fins?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I got blisters last time on my toes..same fins I had worn on our other trips and had never had any problem til this time...We found some aqua socks at Crabby's .. and along with a cpl band aids all was well...Im not sure if they were meant for fins or not I really cant remember...but I do know they helped my toes and you can bet they are packed to make the trip with us this time along wiht some water proof band aids..Not the prettiest thing Ive ever had on my feet...but who cares...at least I had no more blisters...

In highschool, I was on the swim team and we practiced in fins all the time. My feet would bleed from them.

I took scissors to a pair of socks and made wee little sock-lets. Now, they make them for you; golf socks. That's what I've used. Not pretty, but no blood in the water!

There are basically 2 types of fins...full foot and open heel. It sounds like you have open heel fins, in which case you should always wear some type of neoprene dive booty. Full foot fins are designed to be worn without booties but unfortunately it is sometimes hard to find the perfect fit. Nothing is worse than a pair of ill-fitting fins that cause blisters and foot cramps.

Forum to the rescue again...good call, just ordered a pair of neoprene water socks that should do the trick.

If not, there's always duct tape.

Had the same problem 2 trips ago & bought a pair of low-cut aqua/dive socks from LowKeyWatersports. They work great!! I wear them everytime I use my fins now. Y'all have FUN!! Not long now!

We wear neoprene hard soled dive booties with our open heel fins. Not only do they eliminate the blister problem, they are good for entering and exiting rocky beaches.

My family wear their water shoes inside the open backed fins. Works great, and if you are forced to take off the fins, shoes help protect from shells and urchins.

I really don't have this problem. My fins are strap on style and have a neoprene band to prevent blisters on the heel. But it seems to me that a stick of body glide applied to potential problem areas would prevent blisters pretty well without having to wear booties. Just another option.
