Im renting a car from Budget at the airport on STT (Im 24 and they are the only company that will rent out to people under 25). That means that I, someone who has never been to the VIs before, will be driving from the airport to the RH car ferry. Will this drive across STT be a nightmare?

No its not that bad. some roads can be stressful as far as the steepness and generally most of the island roads are narrow but all in all they are not that bad. and the trip to RH is pretty stress free.
good luck

It is a piece of cake. Just follow the directions, there is a Sign pointing you towards red hook at the major rights.
When you get to the ferry, buy a one way ticket so that you do not have to wait for a specific boat, back onto the boat, and relax.
I only rent on STT, because when you add up all of the luggage moving and tipping, taxi fair and ferry tickets for each of your passengers, it saves a lot of wear and tear on the back and on your wallet.

Enjoy your trip!

Well my initial thought was "yes".. :? But maybe that is just because we were in a big rush to try to catch the ferry before it left so our cabbie was driving a little crazy...
Drive slow, carefully, and remember to stay left..and I am sure it will be fine...

Just know that driving on STT and driving on STJ will be completely different experiences. Dor all the chaos that is STT, STJ is the opposite. So if you can handle that you can handle ANYTHING! 8)

Just follow the directions and allow yourself plenty of time!

Oh and you BACK ONTO the ferry. Just do whatever the nice people tell you to do!
