Weather this week?

Greetings! I have some friends who are on St Thomas/St John for their first visit this week. I have been checking the St John spice-cam since they left on Saturday..seems to be a lot of clouds and rain with a bit of sunshine every now and then. Can somebody on island give me a weather update..I'm afraid their first visit will be a little wetter than expected. They will leave to come home on Saturday.
I know...even a rainy day on St John is better than a day at work!
Thanks!

We've had some rain, but plenty of sun. The past few days have been pretty brutal with humidity and somewhat hazy....perfect days to be close to the ocean to take a swim. It's not light out yet, so can't say what today will be like. it did rain a little bit around 4:30am, but it has stopped now. It is already hot though! Keep checking the webcam, it is the best way to see what the weather is really like.

The Sun is now up. It is a little hazy again but certainly good weather. We had a strong shower hit about 2:30 Monday afternoon while we were on the ferry approaching RH. By the time we departed the harbor the Sun was out again. We have not had any rain on our dive trips (Sunday - Tuesday), and we haven't had to postpone or leave a beach because of weather. The moisture is very high. We are expecting that at some point the weather will affect plans a little. We have had a limited look at the full moon and have not been able to see the Southern Cross yet.

I don't know what they expected, but we have been please with the weather so far.

Thanks! Sounds good so far! I did have a chance to check the spice cam today..looked like it was more rain than sun whenever I was online. A good day to spend shopping. Hope the rest of the week is sunny.

Yesterday, we made two dives (Grass & Lovango Cays) and snorkled Hawksnest. We did not see any rain. Late in the day while we were cleaning up, there was a brief but intense shower that lasted about 15 minutes. We then headed to Shipwreck Landing for supper with Maggy and her husband. HINT: Get the Bushwacker cheese cake if youget the chance.

It's cloudy this morning in Coral bay and we are hoping it will clear up. We did not get that rainshower Jim talked about here. So it differs from place to place.

Another hint about dessert in Shipwreck - frozen Key lime pie. The best I ever had.

So, come on out sun. We're ready to hit the beach.

I love Shipwreck, and their whole crew, but I gotta tell you, if you guys are still there Friday night, MJ at Aqua Bistro does a Tuna Ponzu special on Fridays. We had it last week and it was possibly the best dinner that I've had in our various trips to STJ. Shipwreck is still one of my favorites, of course!

There is a major plume of "deep tropical moisture" from a broad trough moving out of the south that will be affecting us at least until Saturday night. High potential for flooding if the heavy rain areas come over us, since the ground is already saturated from 6-7 inches of rainfall already this month.

really wet from where we sit --and I hope you are wrong hugo (for our sake) but it certainly looks like we are in for a few days of wet weather.......

Jim & Diana, so glad you're having a great time. Nice that you got to have dinner with Karin and her husband at Shipwreck. Tell Diana just 23 weeks to SOTB (and yes, we are counting). Have fun and enjoy the rest of the week. Ali~

Thanks for the updates, folks. If Hugo is correct then my peeps will have experienced in one trip, more rain than I have in 4 trips. I've always been in October and had near perfect weather. maybe 2 days of overcast on and off rain all day...that's pretty good. I was hoping their first adventure would be as perfect as mine. I'm sure they're having fun no matter what. They are staying on St Thomas at a resort...I hope they took my advice to visit St John as early in the week as possible. Would be a sin not make it to St John because of bad weather. Thank you all for your input...
very much appreciated. It's been 5 years since I was there...I know a lot has changed. Hope to make it down at least one more time while I'm alive. Otherwise, I'll make it down one last time to have my ashes scattered at a few choice beaches!
Love and Peace to you all...

We are scheduled to go out with Capt. Phil on Wayward Sailor today. The forecast is not good. Rain and T-storms seem to be everywehre today. It looks like no sail or diving today.

After our dive at the Rhone yesterday, it rained on and off (mostly ON) the rest of the day. This is the first time, since we started coming here, that the weather altered our plans for the day.

This pattern is unlikely to change through the weekend. I may be forced to work on trip reports the rest of the week.
