the view from here

it was a bit hazy yesterday, but after a rather strange beginning we arrived and this is our view--you can see all the way to VG!
Fair winds/following seas is a great place--it's actually much more than we need but would be great for two couples who like to be independent but then get together (two hottubs, two kitchens--in separate areas)
the travel day was insane. i think there is something about my Karma with car services as we had an issue on our last trip--but our 5 am pick up didn't materialize (our lfight was from JFK at 7--we are 45 minute from the airport--so i was sort of cutting it anyway) at 5:10 I call and and the guy says oh, i thought it was 5:30!--he was in Yonkers--across the county--NO WAY he was getting here in time to get us to JFK. plan be--we get in our 'station' car (this is our really ancient subaru that shouldn't be on the highway--long story, but the car is a hazard--)
get to the bronx--No passports.. i argue, technically we don't need them....but we turn around (probably the best) and head home. NO WAY we are making this flight. so you KNOW there is all sorts of crabbyness going on in the car..-oh yeah GREAT WAY to start a week away wit NO kids..NOT!
SO home we get and I end up waking the very nice young woman who is watching our kids and asking her to please come to the airport with us (so we don't have to park and take the air train and add 20 minutes to our travel time--if you don;t know JFK, The AA terminal is basically the LAST stop--and unless you get a train that goes opposite you are screwed --it takes a while--...
Off we go--it's 5:45. I think i broke every traffic law in NYS. we got the airport at 6:10--thanks to my husbands traveling so much he has status so we could check in (with a ton of bags--he packed a bunch of wine
but we made it!
we shared rachel with Pickle and her Husband .
I don't need to say this since all of you know this, but i will--Rachel is probably the nicest person on the planet. period.
after settling in we met some friends at aqua bistro for a drink--i brought her a few itmes fromt he states--no biggies----but she out does! and now we have gravlax, organic eggs, danish butter--fresh greens from josephines--nice to have friends like that . really nice. I was speechless. then dinner at shipwreck--my usual caeser salad. today was incredibly lazy--Lameshur in the morning. island blues for a late lunch, then picked up a hitchiker who does HVAC work and lives on the rad to francis--so we headed there for a few hour before catching up with others at the Beach Bar--where we saw ruth, Pia and her husband, sun for my soul and and butch trvljohn and trvlkaren and Jimg20 and mrs jimg20 (ok, i know she has a different forum name...) and gymnastika
that was A LOT of fun--thanks all of you!!!
now off to make dinner (as if we need it.....)
