Physically and emotionally harrowing for anyone, most remarkable for a 16 year old:

Hip-hip-hooray for Jessica Watson and Aussies everywhere. That is a remarkable feat for someone so young. :!:

What an amazing young lady. I would be too afraid to attempt that alone. I would probably even be too afraid to attempt it with someone else in the sailboat with me. Yikes!

Glad she got home safely. :)

She is so inspiring! I can't imagine doing that by myself at any age, much less as a teen. I was talking about her with some friends (all moms) and we all agreed that we couldn't imagine how hard it would be to know your child is on her own in the middle of the ocean. What a brave young woman.

Something like 7 knockdowns?!

Congrats to her, "records" be damned!

So glad that story had a happy ending. Say prayers for 16 year old Abby Sunderland from California. She set sail on January 23rd attempting the same feat and was last heard from yesterday, when her emergency beacons were activated off the coast of Madagascar.

i CAN NOT imagine what her parents are going thru (and obviously what she is going thru at such a young age)--they were reporting 50 foot seas and 60 knot winds? -- I hope they find her soon.

Her parents are continuing her blog and updating as they get news.

What wonderful news. When I heard she was lost all I could think of was that little girl Jessica Dubroff who tried to break the world record for flying back in 96. Sad.
